Stopping progesterone 13dpIUI?

Hi all, I had my IUI 12 days ago, trigger 14 days ago. I am testing negative. From what I understand, it is very very unlikely to get a positive test after this point. My blood test isn’t until 15dpIUI.

I am considering stopping progesterone if I have a negative test tomorrow (13dpIUI) in the hopes that my period comes on time. I’ve heard progesterone can delay your period, and I don’t see the point in waiting until 15dpIUI if there’s no pregnancy anyways. I’m taking 400mg twice a day. In addition, I am constantly exhausted, emotional, and voraciously hungry on progesterone, so stopping would help me feel a bit better physically.

Is this off base? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, everyone.

June 23 IUI

First post here - anyone else have a June 23 IUI? How are we doin?

This was our first IUI - unexplained after trying for 15 months, besides mild male factor. We did 5mg letrozole and got one mature follicle. Trigger of 5000IU Pregnyl, and 200mg prometrium twice a day after IUI. I’m still seeing the trigger on wondfos, 11 days later. I’m finding this TWW pretty stressful but trying to keep busy. I’ve learned so much from this process already so I’m trying to keep that in mind if this first one doesn’t work.

HSG Went About As Well As I Expected

Hey there, I wanted to share my HSG experience because reading other posts like this helped me know what to expect.

We have been trying for a little over a year. 2 chemical pregnancies and a pregnancy of unknown location (PUL) when I was in my mid 20s (while I had an IUD perfectly in place. Go figure). We started with a fertility clinic and the doctor said this is the next step before we start the IUI process, especially with my previous PUL that may have caused scarring. We scheduled this for day 10 of my cycle at a local hospital.

I was extremely nervous going into this, as IUD removals and insertions were very painful for me. I also had a uterine biopsy because of my PUL, which was the most pain I have ever felt. I was terrified it would be just as bad and expected a lot of pain.

I was given 0.5mg Xanax to take a half hour before. I took 600mg of Ibuprofen about 2 hours before. I took a pregnancy test which confirmed I was not pregnant. My husband wasn’t allowed in the room but he sat right outside. I had two gowns, one opening in the front and on in the back. They let me keep my socks and shirt on.

The doctor inserted the catheter which wasn’t too bad. Then she inflated the balloon at the end of the catheter. Holy moly was that excruciating. I gasped and flinched backwards. Immediately teared up. All of my coping skills I planned went out the window. From that point on I had my eyes closed and was just trying to breathe. I asked the nurse to hold my hand because I was scared of how bad it hurt. I think she had to take the photos one handed, but man did I need a hand to hold! Most everything I read said the dye was the worst part, so I was expecting even more pain. They directed me to scoot back and began inserting the dye. I couldn’t feel much except a little cramping and the giant overwhelming pain from the balloon, but the doctor kept saying “take a picture of that, okay now that, and another picture here.” The dye process probably only took 30 seconds.

Then she removed the catheter and called my husband in to view the x rays. I kept lying down because I felt dizzy, overwhelmed, vulnerable, and just… down? Kind of sad that I had to go through that? Both my tubes were open and dye spilled out. The doctor said everything looked great! To my husband and myself, it appeared that one tube spilled slower, but the doctor didn’t mention anything. We will see what my fertility doctor says.

I got a frosty after as I’ve heard it’s tradition to get ice cream of some sort after an HSG. It definitely helped, highly recommend!!! It’s been two days and I’m still very lightly spotting. I have had some very minor cramping but nothing terrible.

Overall, my experience was 8/10 painful but extremely short. I’m glad I did it even though everything looked normal. To everyone reading this, not all HSGs are this painful, and I hope you have the best of luck.
