Back to 1.5mg and it feels great
After a month of 1.5mg I moved to the 4mg. It kicked my butt so I tried every other day of the 4mg. The days on the 4mg were just uncomfortable and exhausting. Went back to 1.5mg and I’m very happy - no food noise, not uncomfortably bloated or tired. Yay.
(5 weeks in and I’m down about 5 pounds)
Going back down to 1.5mg from 4mg
TL;DR 1.5mg was effective, 4mg even more effective. Just… too effective
Started the 1.5mg July 1. Took a few days to adjust to the bloating and fatigue but no food noise, no vomiting, just constipation from my gi system slowing down as intended. Lost a bit over 3 pounds. Cool.
Moved up to the 4mg August 1. The bloating and fatigue has returned but stronger. It was a struggle to eat 1000 calories, forget about 1200. After 3 days of bad discomfort I thought I’d do every other day. The days I’m on it are a challenge but the days I’m off are fantastic. Lost another pound!
Yesterday was an on day and I don’t know if I was genuinely ill or if it was the pill but I took a 2 hour nap yet went to bed early and slept through the night.
So I’m going back to the 1.5mg. It did its job. If it starts to crap out I have most of the 4mg bottle handy. Glad I tried the 4mg so I could see if it had bad side effects - I’m sure my body would have adjusted after another week but didn’t feel necessary.
Adventures in transitioning from 1.5mg to 4mg
TL; DR the 4mg transition has been fine. It’s definitely stronger than 1.5mg but no crazy side effects.
I started 1.5mg July 1 and it’s been terrific - no huge side effects and I’m able to eat within my budget.
I was nervous about going up to 4mg because of the horror stories I’ve read but figured it couldn’t be THAT bad.
It’s been just 3 days and I’m pleased to say it’s not been too crazy. I’d been waking up hungry but on the 4mg I’ve got no desire for breakfast.
Yesterday I made a big mistake: I’d not eaten much during the day so I figured I’d have a nice sized dinner. I was up all night with acid reflux. Woke up this morning and I’ve decided to skip today’s pill. I’m still full from dinner and taking antacids.
So yeah the 4mg has a stronger impact but otherwise nothing horrifying to report.
Next month I’m going on vacation and I’ll take the 1.5mg so I can better participate with all the group activities. Will decide later if I resume the 4mg or stay on 1.5mg when I return.
Feeling super full - normal?
I’m on Day 5 of 1.5mg (60yo, 163lbs, looking to lose 25 lbs). So far just sleepy but today I feel so full, only had a couple cups of coffee 7 hours ago and I still feel like I just ate a huge meal.
And I’ve *gained* 2 pounds. I’m assuming my gi system is moving so slow I’ve got extra weight in my intestines?
Anyhow - has anyone else experienced the extreme fullness + weight gain?
Lost 90 lbs on my own, regained 25 over the past 5 years… hoping the pills will get me back on the right path
I’m on Day 2 of 1.5mg. Yesterday I slept all👏day👏long👏. But I didn’t overeat, didn’t feel nauseous - yay. Today I’m awake, still not overeating and still not nauseous. Weirdest of all… went to Costco and had zero desire to comb the aisles for pleasant surprises and bought my eggs, water, berries and chicken and nothing else.
This is how Elsa enjoys the World Cup
As long as she feels like the center of my attention…
DFW Ground Stop
2 hour flight from CLT currently 90 minutes delayed. Still at the gate, not on the tarmac burning fuel. People for the most part seem good natured about it - some folks hopping off the plane to get some food in the terminal. Others just… leaving. WFAA shows the storm blowing through so I’m hopeful we’ll leave before the crew times out.
UPDATE: the 6:30p flight (2409) deplaned at 8:15p. Storm is in our flight path and we’re don’t have permission to fly around it. Waiting for the 9p update from DFW air traffic control
UPDATE 2: rumor has it we’re departing at 10p. There are several pilots on the flight headed to DFW to pick up their morning routes so I imagine there’s a stronger sense of urgency to get in the air
UPDATE 3: almost started boarding at 9:20p but… FAs timed out! New FAs arrived a few minutes later to a round of applause. It’s 10:15p and we’re almost ready to pull away from the gate!
FINAL UPDATE: we took off shortly before 11p. No crash outs in the terminal or on the plane - there were several babies and children and didn’t really hear a peep during the whole escapade (although there was a guy a few seats away who snored so loudly several rows were chuckling). Flight was a bit bumpy, cool light show out the window for the last half of the flight as the storm continued in the distance. Incredibly smooth landing, and the most stunning part was taxiing right to a gate and having a gate crew ready for us. Sunshine in Dallas in the forecast until the weekend!
How to make the installers’ job less unpleasant?
Texas. HVAC install with some ductwork scheduled for next week. It won’t be Texas-hot but it’ll still be unpleasant (80-85°).
Other than staying out of their way, what can I do to make this as pleasant as possible?
What’s a reasonable price these days for a new AC system?
Crime flair because that’s what my electric bill feels like.
Anyhow I need to replace my 5 ton unit inside/outside with gas heat. I’m starting to get quotes and a single stage seems to be $10-15k (I know, big spread) and 2 stage closer to $20k. Not sure what’s reasonable vs taking advantage of a customer who doesn’t know HVAC.
Two stage Lennox vs single stage Carrier?
Alas it’s time to get a new AC unit. I have a 5 ton Ruud compressor that is on its last legs. (Dallas, where 90° is considered a cool day.) Looking for a sanity check from Those That Know About These Things
Option 1: 2 stage Lennox ML17KC2, 15.5 SEER, 10 year parts and labor warranty
Option 2: single stage Carrier, 13 SEER, 10 year parts/2 year labor warranty for a $5k savings
Is the 2 stage worth the additional $5k? And what would be a reasonable price for either option? Trying to make the right decision and not feel ripped off.
Thanks in advance for sharing your perspective
