19 months old barely eating anymore

Hi everyone,

I'm really hoping for some advice from parents who have experienced something similar.

My daughter is 19 months old and for approximately the last two weeks, she has been refusing almost all her meals apart from breakfast.

She used to absolutely love her food, had a great appetite and would happily finish her plate. Now it's almost impossible to get her to eat anything.

She still eats breakfast at home, usually cereal, fruit and toast, and then has some more cereal at nursery. However, she barely touches her morning snack, lunch or pudding at nursery.

At home, it's exactly the same. I offer her lunch and dinner, but she barely touches either. I've tried all her favourite meals, completely new foods and even ordered different meals from Lune & Wild, hoping something might interest her. But most of the time, she refuses to even open her mouth or try the food.

She still drinks milk and will sometimes accept a banana or smoothie, but proper meals have become an absolute struggle.

We previously allowed her to watch TV during meals because it was sometimes the only way to get her to eat, but I've now removed the TV as I don't want her to become dependent on it.

I'm honestly feeling incredibly frustrated and worried. I just don't understand how a child who genuinely loved eating can suddenly lose almost all interest in food.

Has anyone experienced such a sudden change in their toddler's eating habits?

Did it eventually resolve on its own? How long did it last, and what helped?

I'd really appreciate any advice or reassurance from parents who have been through something similar. ❤️

39, pregnant with my second, a 12-month-old at home, and struggling to keep up

Hi everyone,

I'm writing because I'm feeling quite lonely and overwhelmed at the moment.

I'm 39 and have just found out that I'm pregnant with my second baby, with God's help. I also have a little one who is just over 12 months old. While I'm excited and grateful, I'm also feeling very nervous about everything.

I work part-time and recently had to choose between working 3 full days or 5 days at 5.5 hours. I chose the 5 shorter days, thinking it would give me more balance, but honestly it now feels like I have two full-time jobs. Between work, looking after my baby, cooking, cleaning, and keeping the flat running, I'm exhausted.

One thing that's making me anxious is feeling like I can't afford to be unwell. If I'm sick, there's no one really there to take over looking after my daughter, making meals, and keeping everything going.

I'm not planning to tell many people about the pregnancy for quite a while, possibly not until 6 or 7 months, which makes it feel even lonelier.

I was wondering if there are any other mums here who are pregnant with a young toddler at home, especially working mums, who might be in a similar situation. It would be lovely to have someone to chat with now and then who understands what this season of life is like.

Thank you for reading ❤️
