Ridiculous Costs for Wedding Party.

I have noticed this is becoming a trend more often.

But my husband is a groomsman in a wedding at the end of August. This couple is being so specific that they are having all the groomsmen purchase their suits. The couple had the audacity to pick out a $900 white suit. Yes you read that right…white suit. But before you say, you can rent a white suit, yes, they know that, but they decided the color wasn’t quite right and so they needed all the groomsmen to buy the suits. Hence the $900 bill.

The couple offered to help all the groomsmen pay half, but most people could not take them up on that offer considering they know this couple is struggling for money. They idiotically drained their 401(k) to pay for this wedding and then didn’t realize there were taxes and penalties on withdrawing from a 401(k) early, so they had to get a loan to pay that back. A majority of the wedding party can pay for this, but they’re just all pissed because they didn’t plan to buy something that they can wear one day. We could understand a black, gray, or navy suit….but white!!!

To make it even more painful. The suits are starting to come in, and the bride and groom don’t love the color. Not sure what they are going to do at this point.

Moral of the story, I get all these couples have these dreams of these crazy nice weddings. But be considerate of your wedding party and your guests. This is also a destination wedding, in the middle of nowhere so the guests are all pretty livid about that. 4 hours from the nearest airport. There are also a bunch of other little things in this wedding that has a lot of the party upset (think $3k bachelorette/bachelor parties). Requiring all guests to wear only 1 color.

Handling first trip away from baby

So my little one is six months old, and I have my first work trip coming up. Does anyone have any advice on how to get through it?

The trip is only a few days, and little one will be with my husband. I trust him a ton. LO is formula fed only. For some reason though I’m just freaking out. Secretly I’m hoping something prevents me from being able to go, canceled flights (they have canceled so many why not mine!?!!!), then I can say sorry something happened out of my control.

I do need to go on this work trip. It would look bad if I backed out. But I know I will be a mess the whole time. I am sick to my stomach and cry when I think of going.

We noticed a change in the Huggies Little Snugglers this morning when opening a new box. Literally bought the last box and current the same day. The new box diapers feel cheaper.

Did anyone notice the change?

Any great diaper recommendations for babies that pee out of the side when sleeping on their side? Our LO is a side sleeper. Always starts on back but will roll in a few mins.

We are looking at buying our forever home. Our budget was between 800k and 1.1M.

We found a perfect home. It literally checks off every single box, the only issue is that it’s a very large home. But eventually we can grow into it. The home was last sold in April 2025 for 980,000. The current owner has done nothing to it. Other than upkeep it nicely. They sadly went into business with a business that failed here recently and they have to move for a new job. Bad circumstances so they do need to get out within a month or two.

My husband and I are gonna offer 1 million at the end of the day, because according to our local real estate friends that is what it’s worth. The house has not even hit the market yet. It’s supposed to hit it on Monday. Our agent called the sellers agent and they are claiming a couple is coming into town to specifically view this house this weekend. But our agent told them we love the home and are forming an offer now.

My husband and I are firm on not wanting to pay more than a home is worth. But are considering not asking for closing costs and not asking for them to leave appliances. But curious to see if others think this is a scare tactic and we should hold or if we should consider going up a little (or possibly walking away).

Note: this is a lower cost of living area and homes above 800k typically sit on the market for 6 months to a year. There are not a ton of them (2 on the market right now).

Second Note: we are not in a rush for a home. So we are happy to wait another year or 2 for another home that we love.

UPDATE:
We are putting in an offer for $1M and told the sellers we won’t budge. But did tell them we aren’t in a rush either, so if the ppl flying in want it for $1.125 they can have it.

We also learned last time the house was listed for $1.1M. But sat on the market for 8 months before the current owner offered $980k and that offer was accepted in April 25. This is a VERY isolated city in the US and takes a certain type of person to move here (you either love it or hate it, no in between). According to our realtor most peoples max budget is $800k, so hence house sitting forever if they are over. Relator told us this bc it is a small area vibe and everyone knows everything, so if we asked around we would find out.
