Typical Frequency?

So I read that developing tonsil stones 3x a year is considered a nuisance for some people and this makes them a candidate for procedures to reduce them…I remove tonsil stones once a month.

What exactly is the average timeframe here that “normal” people get tonsil stones? Am I that much of a freak? Someone educate me

Extraction Fear

I wish people wouldn’t perpetuate the anti-extraction fearmongering. So many people are looking to begin their treatment and have such unnecessary stress and anxiety because extractions were recommended. Some are getting the extractions, reading it’s terrible for you, and suddenly they are experiencing a placebo affect of everything that could go wrong. Some cases truly and desperately need extractions, and the fear of them is jeopardizing their bone health and overall results of the treatment they are paying thousands of dollars for. Please, I beg y’all, stop telling people with severe overjets and insane crowding that extractions are going to recess their face and cause breathing issues. That is simply not true.

My Braces Had a Baby! (9mths)

And apparently it’s a girl 🐣

Technically it’s closer to 9.5 months, but the time has been flying by so it’s crazy to think that it’s been long enough to grow a child. Hoping to be half way!! Was originally estimated to be 24mnths but it’s been going very well

Color Combos

Show me your favorite color combos!! Nothing TOO crazy that’ll make my assistant hate me, but I want some cute and fun options for holidays. I waited too long for braces and spent too much money to not have fun with them

Elastics Hurting Cheeks

I’ve been wearing elastics for ~10wks now — triangles from my upper canines to my lower molars. After the first week of getting used to them they never really bothered me. Two days ago I started getting these scrapes/dig marks on my cheeks from them. It’s painful and doesn’t make any sense since the elastics have never done this before and started happening pretty suddenly. My teeth didn’t shift anything notable from when the pain started and days or a week beforehand, when it was just normal.

Anyone know why this started happening? Will it go away? I don’t want to spend the rest of my treatment in pain over something that I will experience essentially 24/7

Powerchain Causing Jaw Popping?

I had TMJ popping for years before braces, first on the right and then after I had a wisdom tooth removed it shifted to the left. It went away when I started braces, but came back almost immediately after I got my powerchain last appointment. I started elastics the appointment before that (6wks) and it didn’t affect it, so I’m thinking it must be the powerchain.

Has anyone else had this coming and going issue? Do I just have a temperamental jaw? Any hope of it going away? It’s not usually painful but I have a bad habit of “working” the pop, like cracking your knuckles

8 Month Progress - Adult Braces

After waiting the majority of my life for braces, I got them on just a few days short of 8 months ago at 23yo! I have MANY more progress photos to share later on, but I’m feeling eager to give a peek at my transformation!! Words cannot describe how life changing orthodontics can be.

Bottoms went on 2 weeks after the top - not part of the treatment plan, but I was finishing up dental work and needed to delay the bottoms

Feel free to AMA :)
