Loving my new strategy

Went to an ice cream place to get 2 cones. The worker rings me up and the total comes out to about $18. The tablet shows up and asks for a tip. The worker says its going to ask me if I want to leave anything. I then ask her "do you want to give me a discount" she says "no I can't do that" and I finish by saying "yeah then sadly I can't leave anything". She looked very annoyed but it definitely took away that little uncomfortable feeling I get when I put no tip.

Casino expectations

I went with my family this past weekend to Las Vegas and my grandpa actually won in the slot machines. He had won $3000 and it was a nice moment. Shortly after the staff come to him and give him the cash. My grandpa counts all the bills while the staff stands there and then gives me $200 and my other family members money. The rest he kept in his pocket and as we were leaving one of the staff say “wow” with an annoyed face and walks away.

They couldn’t had possibly thought that they were going to get tipped right?

Even as a server I get irritated with tipping

I've been working as a server for 5 years now. Started at Denny's and now working at BJ’s Brewhouse and Restaurant. I don't get bothered when tables don't tip for the most part. I have gotten tables of 10-20 people who don't tip, and tables like this take about 2 full hours of my time that I could have spent on other, smaller tables with tips. Only in those moments have I felt horrible, seeing my other coworkers making 3 times as much as me during those shifts.

My focus is actually on how absurd the tipping culture has become over the past decade. I am running all the time taking 4-7 tables at a time with no breaks and a tip is never guarantee. I make it my mission to make sure the person who comes has the best time possible. I always say yes to every customer, and when I see they don't really touch their food, I ask the managers to take the plate off their bill.
Now my issue is with coffee shops, fast food places, and ice cream shops.

Each time I see a tip option on the screen, it pisses me off. These people don't put in 5% the effort I do and are trying to get the same benefits. On average, I’m with my tables for 45 minutes to an hour at a time, while these people only interact with me for 30 seconds. When I click "no tip," the workers just turn into dead zombies with me.

This tipping culture is disrespectful to those who actually provide service to customers.

I began doing referrals when acorns came out with their insane bonuses. Never used the app for personal use since it wasn’t useful to me. Anyways, I would get my friends to start signing up with my links and I would get the bonuses a week after. One time I did a referral after the expiration of the promo had passed. My friend had signed up minutes after with my link and I was freaking out cause I thought I wasted a referral. Anyhow he showed up but for the new bonus of that month. I wasn’t that stoked since it was a bit less but when next week came I not only got one bonus but two! I got the bonus from the previous promotion and I began planning out my next promotion. When the end-of the promotion came I had 3 people I had paid $40 to sign up make accounts minutes after the old promotion expired. I was a server at Ihop and getting people was easy. I got away with around $2400 in duplicate bonuses. I got an email from acorns saying my account was suspended and it will remain that way until I return the money. I guess i’ll never have an Acorns account ever again.
