original unc vive 1 owner here, my headset still works, 1 base station doesnt (ye olde "rpm too slow" mechanical failure) theres no vive 1 lighthouse stock, its been out of stock for the last 6 years, actually. both controllers top trackpad buttons have gone soft and unreliable. I could disassemble both controllers to "fix" them but every vid is quite vague on the issue they're fixing and how or where theyre "fixing" it. one involves duct tape and the other involves soldering.

In a perfect world where steamvr lighthouse 2.0 and controller 2.0's worked with og lighthouses I would have just replaced the controllers and 1 steamvr lighthouse would be compatible with the og vive. however we live in a hellscape so htc and steam decided neither tech could have backwards compatability

Im looking at buying a vive pro 2 "special bundle" consisting of:

The special bundle includes a 24-month warranty for the Headset (Item 1), and a 12-month warranty for the Base Stations (Item 2) and Controllers (Item 3).

theres one small issue with this bundle, it seems to not specify if the headset is missing its cables OR the base station missing its power cables (the vive pro 2 and vive 1 use different cables, allegedly) (the steamvr base station requires less amps than the og vive lighthouse, meaning if i plugged in an og lighthouse itd explode the steamvr lighthouse)

Has anyone bought thsee "special bundles" as of yet? Confirm that these do come with the cables that are required to run the thing? Ive got the entire og vive setup but hardly any of the tech is compatible with newer htc tech, its aggravating since I literally cant buy a new base station as theyre outta stock (could go with a clone from aliexpress) or new controllers without them being 3-4 hundred a pop

tldr: how do i remap keys? like multimedia keys being in different spots, say f9 or f10, function key + q NOT switching the lighting mode, I dont need the lights to change at all if i happen to press fn+q or overwrite my qwasd keys while i just happen to be holding fn

explanation: its a great keyboard, the softwares just very difficult

so i started on a razer widowmaker abt a decade ago, switched to a logitech g512 blue keys i got as a gift, worst decision of my life, thing double-typed certain keys constantly, disassembled it multiple times and cleansed with ethanol, which just scrambled which keys would double type, ended up slamming it on the brick verandah to fix it and it worked way better for about 3 months.

it turns out blue key logi's suck, like very bad. theyre one of the least reliable alongside browns

im now on a very aesthetically pleasing, very soft brown switch r6.

keychron killed it with the look and the switches, they sound and feel incredible

however

the software is killing me, ive had it for a full 24 hours and i thought I could simply work around the "no key lighting" with different keys, however the lights cast sideways, not upways. so the light doesnt cast through the letter. why is the softare chrome-only??? i wanna download it, have it work offline, i live in a third world country with historically unreliable internet so how can i change it if nbn decides to unplug its mainframe again?

logitech software lets me do things just a bit easier, I find the keychron software a lot more advanced but in worse ways. Im not tech illiterate, i know how this kinda sw works. its just difficult coming from a logitech sw.

I really wanna change certain keys to certain colours... theres 1 extremely poorly designed feature: function+w or function+q

it changes the whole lighting scheme, you cant just reset it back quickly as its hardware-coded to be like that, Ive looked up how to turn this off, and all ive done now is somehow disable my function key

the function key also interups if im holding w to say... move forward in a game and play/pause my music.. i crashed a heli because the fn key overwrote the w key and I couldnt push down... wtf

the g512 gave me 1 extra multimedia key over the r6, the multimedia stop key. stopped my music so i could play it from the best part, since 2026 music needs like 30 seconds of full mute before the song ends... cant replay a song??

theres NO way to code this r6 to get its very own stop key. Ive tried coding it with the software w macros, theres literally no way to do it

this board ran me 150 bucks, I still have plenty of time to refund it under "software malfunction" warranty. the fn key turning itself off or resetting my whole light mapping is driving me insane. Its bad enough I cant see the keys in the dark without a light source, is this keyboard just made for typing in a light office?

wanting to swap the menu and fn key around, seems a bit difficult using the remap software as "fn" is set to "mo(1)", whats the point of a macro having code? theres some reading material on the subject but doesnt seem that helpful in a gaming or windows scenario, does it use .batch or something?
