What if bus cameras reported every blocked bike lane

MBTA buses are about to start ticketing blocked bus lanes. What about the 3,640 blocked bike lanes they already drive past?

We put together a little report with data from your reports on Bike Bureau and found that nearly three-quarters of reported bike-lane blockages already occur on streets regularly traveled by MBTA buses.

New app "Bike Bureau" for reporting vehicles in bike lanes gets notices by Minneapolis

Hey MSP I made this for reporting vehicles in bike lanes with one tap: https://www.loudbicycle.com/bb

Boston is ignoring almost all our reports, but MSP is actually sending out people to the locations that get reported. Hope you can make it useful! Let me know if you have questions or suggestions.

Bike Bureau now connects to all the local municipalities http://loudbicycle.com/bb makes it really easy to send in 311 reports. There were over one thousand reports for Boston alone, vastly more than before, we are hoping to have some kind of real response from the city, and eventually separated bike lanes.

We already know what kind of bike lanes actually keep people safe

Every orange dot marks a spot where a vehicle was parked blocking a bike lane. The green areas are separated bike lanes and the purple areas are "protected" bike lanes. If a car was physically able to enter the lane and park then the car can also barrel into someone biking in that lane. A separated lane solves both at once: no one can park in the lane and no one can be run over in the lane, the car simply cannot be there. That’s the only kind of protection that doesn’t depend on the person driving. REAL BARRIERS DON'T FOLD.
