Image 1 — Picked up this super good condition Columbian for $80 at a sale. Do you guys think I should replace my old Olympia as my home shop vice? It feels way less sloppy than the Olympia but im finding online that jaw replacements aren’t really available.

Could really use some advice from yall. Drove 150 miles from portland to a cabin in central oregon and upon arrival my dashboard lit up and now the car idles rough for a few seconds then dies. Previous photo of the car for visibility. 2006 100 series

Thankfully I have service here so worst case I can bite the bullet and tow it back to my shop. It's a 2006 with almost 300,000 miles. Drive over was totally fine, last few minutes before arriving I got a check engine, and vcs light. my scanner says both banks are rich and I have a p0101 for MAF issue, and P2196 for O2 sensor 1 stuck rich. I have tried running the car after unpacking and it idles super rough and has very little throttle response, and then procedes to die. The car has a hewitt air bypass kit that I installed a few years ago and I'm unsure how that might affect the issues. The air filter was replaced a few months ago. The nearest town is about 30 minutes away and has a baxsters which does not have a MAF or O2 sensor in stock but I would assume has MAF cleaner. I'm debating trying to get an uber out here to go buy some cleaner as I have a decent tool kit with me but beyond that I don't really have any resources to dig any deeper. Has anyone here dealt with this specific issue? I would be stoked if a quick spray of MAF cleaner solves my issue but I don't have a ton of confidence that it will solve my problem. This whole situation is really bumming me out as I have been looking forward to coming out here all month and regardless of how I handle it I need to be back for work by Sunday 😞

So what’s the consensus on permethrin on waders? I’m seeing conflicting arguments online.

After finding a tick last month on my waders on the metolius and then last week waking up with a tick attached to my fucking stomach on a fishing trip in Montana I bought a bottle of permethrin because I still shiver thinking about that morning. From what I’m seeing online is permethrin is toxic to aquatic life and binds to the soils, but I’ve seen multiple statements that if it is applied to dry waders and allowed to dry it is safe for a watershed. Obviously I want to keep our fisheries healthy but also I really hate ticks. My thoughts now are to apply it to my sunshirts and pants but not the waders but if someone can give a compelling argument that it’s safe when correctly applied I would prefer to use them on the waders.
