I live in a large neighborhood, and my friend’s boyfriend coincidentally lives about a 5-10 minute walking distance from my house, since his house is next to the entrance of my neighborhood. My friend finds this convenient because it means that she can see him anytime that she’s at my house. I’m personally fine with third-wheeling, just as long as my existence isn’t forgotten (which i think is the bare minimum), and every time we’ve gone there, she just frames it as him “smoking us up” because we sit in his garage for an hour or so smoking.

After we finish smoking, with absolutely no fail we always end up in his room, them sitting on his dirty ass bed wrestling and making out, while i’m sitting on my phone on a chair for the next 2-3 hours. I’ve made it clear to her that I’m not okay with this, especially because we usually end up leaving super late, around 2AM. It‘s extremely uncomfortable, boring, and nobody wants to be in that position, ESPECIALLY when they’re putting their hands down each others‘ pants while i’m RIGHT THERE.

On her birthday, we all (me, her, her boyfriend, and a few other friends) hung out at her boyfriends house which wasn’t a surprise. We were all drinking and having a decent time. It was pretty late, which is when the other girls that were there left to go to a different party. We were planning for us to go to my house after and crash there for the night, but she said she would only go if she could get a ride back to her house to finish her laundry and to get her stuff. I wasn’t going to drive because I was tipsy, and it was too late for anyone else to.

My friend was BEYOND drunk, and whenever she’s drunk she stops listening to everyone. I tried physically telling her that I couldn’t give her a ride about 5 times, and she didn’t acknowledge anything that I said. She was responding to her boyfriend, and they were just doing their thing like they usually do on his bed. I just decided to text her saying something along the lines of “i hope you had a good birthday, i’m heading home, i love you” and I got up and left.

I didn’t talk to her for about 4 days after that, because she never acknowledged what happened, and how she allows this to happen every time when she knows it upsets and annoys me. We just recently had a phone call, and she told me that after I left, she was hysterically sobbing to the point where one of her boyfriend’s friends walked in and thought that they broke up. She said that she was calling me a bitch, and saying things like “if she’s supposed to be my best friend, why would she leave me on my birthday”. I felt like I was overreacting, and I shouldn’t have done that when it was her birthday.

I’m just fed up with him having to be there every time we’re together, and she just acts like I don’t exist half of the time. I should’ve been thinking about how it would affect her, but I was about to start crying in front of them if I didn’t leave because I’m sensitive. AITA?
