Making cold brew for the first time

I’m making cold brew at home for the first time. I watched some videos about different methods and decided for now I’d like to go with a method where I need the least amount of extra stuff (my kitchen is already packed). So I bought a pitcher and many coffee filter bags and a cheap grinder. I grind coffee beans on coarse grind and then fill the bag, and then put the bag in the pitcher and submerge in water and leave in fridge for about 24 hours. So I have a couple of questions:

  1. What can I improve about the process? The brew tastes fine to me at the end albeit not as flavorful like coffeehouse cold brews. I’m sure there’s ways to make the brew correct without having to buy extra appliances.

  2. I’ve been using the coffee bags to avoid the need for filtering afterward, but seems like it doesn’t really make a difference since the grounds spill out anyway. Plus, I find the bags annoying to use since the bag doesn’t fully submerge. Because of this, should I just mix the grounds directly in water and strain them afterward?

Planning a trip to San Juan Islands

Hello, I'm planning a weekend trip to San Juan Islands for my wife and myself. We will be staying from Friday to Sunday sometime in July. At the moment, I've booked a room at Lakedale Resort. However, as I've done more research, it seems like we'd run into issues with parking, transportation within the island, lack of cell service, and reliability of the intra-island ferries. I'm figuring out how to solve these issues and would like some advice from people who've made the trip before. I'll try to keep my questions succint:

  1. If parking is limited in Friday Harbor, and San Juan Transit is down, how do we get between Friday Harbor Ferry and Lakedale Resort? We want to rent bikes and ride around Lopez. To do that, we need to get from Lakedale Resort to Friday Harbor, then get on the intra-island ferry to Lopez. If we take our car to Friday Harbor, parking in Friday Harbor is very limited. We could take our car on the ferry to Lopez, but there is also very limited parking in Lopez Island, so that seems out of the question. According to multiple websites it seems better to just walk-on to the ferry. So the only option I see is San Juan Transit. But San Juan Transit is also currently down. https://www.reddit.com/r/sanjuanislands/comments/1tpsite/san_juan_transit_not_running/ . Lakedale says they have bikes on their website, but that is only for the resort, not for island biking. So biking from Lakedale to Friday Harbor isn't feasible either. So how do we get between Lakedale and Friday Harbor and back?
  2. If the intra-island ferries are unreliable, then what do we do? From several reddit posts I read, the intra-island ferries are cancelled frequently. If we take a trip to one of the islands (either by foot or by car) and the intra-island ferry is cancelled, what do we do? We'd be stranded with no lodging and no cell service (we have Verizon and another reddit post I read said Verizon has terrible service in that area).

Given the above, is it a bad idea to stay in SJI? Should we stay in Anacortes and just take day trips to the islands? That way we can explore 1 island per day, and the Anacortes / <island name> ferries seem more reliable so we shouldn't be stuck. Or, should I do 1 night in Orcas (we'd take the car from Seattle to Anacortes, take ferry, drive around Orcas), one night in San Juan Island (from Orcas we'd take car onto intra-island ferry, then drive around SJI and stay at some place overnight), and then drive back and take a ferry back to Anacortes?

How much does reneging an offer hurt you?

If you accept an offer, but then later renege it for a different opportunity, how much does that hurt you reputationally and with that company? Is it automatically burning bridges? If you renege long before the start date, would that affect anything?
