Why do joggers insist on running in the Hudson Greenway bike lane?

Infuriating. I called out “bike lane” to someone in the middle of the lane this morning and HE gave ME attitude for it. And the whole “asphalt is softer than concrete” thing is B.S. by the way, unless you weigh 2,000 pounds and are a car and not a human being.

Best place in NYC for a 20 minute test?

It’s hard to sustain a truly maximal effort in the park with all the hills and traffic. In the past I’ve gone to Floyd Bennett Field for the flat, empty runways, but it’s a pain in the ass to get to and the pavement is pretty chopped up. Are there any good spots a reasonable distance from Manhattan with a couple miles of flat-ish, open roads?

Floyd Bennett Field

Have been riding for about a month and just got my first FTP result (300 W), based on a 20 minute test (competitive rowing background). Given I am 98 kg and 6’4”, I’m realizing how difficult it will be to become competitive on hilly courses. However, the flat and wide Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn seems ideal for my body type and inexperience with racing/group riding. Has anyone raced or trained here?

In-universe, what is the viewership of On Cinema?

In episode 5 of season 10 X, Greg describes OCATC as his “highly-viewed program”. In-universe, how many people are actually watching this? It’s probably in like a 6am local access time slot next to “Check It Out!” and “The Married News”, but maybe after the Electric Sun 20 19 they had a bump in their ratings?

I’m sorry for how I acted at dinner. I had a bit too much to drink and I was caught off-guard seeing my ex husband at the restaurant. I used to think I hated him, but I realize that’s a pretty extreme reaction. “Hate” should really be reserved for people like Nazis or my seven year old daughter.

Once upon a time I was a D1 rower (2k PR of 6:04 which, for reference, is very strong at the collegiate level but a hair below national team standards). Currently 28M and I’ve kept a decent amount of my aerobic base (today I did a 3x5k on the erg at an average pace of 1:58/500m (translates to around 210 W, sustained for approximately an hour with limited rest). Sadly nowhere near my peak, but respectable numbers.

I’m about to buy my first road bike (have consulted with a friend in the know re: bike model/gear, etc. so should be good there), and I want to get back to competitive racing ASAP. What should I expect given my background - any tips from other rowers who’ve made the switch? For reference I’m 6’4”, 220 but trending down hard since I got off my ass a month and a half ago (impedance scanner at Equinox suggests I’m 10% body fat when I weigh 208 lbs, so that’s the goal).

NYC resident, and have had the CRCA Club Series recommended to me as an intro to group racing. Any other events to check out?
