I had the forbidden chocolate milk happen to me at 118,000 miles. I had regular maintenance, but I was driving once a week 3 hour round trip to get to college for a year and I think it was just too much for my car. Last maintenance check no oil in coolant, most recent it was a goner. I got quoted $6k to fix it and the mechanic (along with like 4 others) told me not to even do it because if it’s in my coolant, my engine will be next. This was my dream car, I was very devastated to find this out (tests were ran btw). I switched to a 2025 Chevy trax just solely based on price and “similar” build since this situation was so unexpected. 100% miss how fast and smooth my Subaru drove compared to my new car, but it is what it is. I just wanted to share my sorrow because I truly do miss my Subaru, it’s been 4 days since she left me. Someday I’ll join the Subaru community again, but only when I can afford to buy new.

Edit: I just want to say guys I GET the Chevy hate because it wasn’t my first pick either. Trust me I’m a Subaru lover. I wanted something with a similar body build that wasn’t a Subaru since I want to buy new once I get and save my big girl money from my big girl job. My Chevy was only $17k and has 20k miles, clean title. I went with what was best for me financially right now obviously because who wouldn’t?? So yeah I don’t want to put $10k+ into my broken beautiful Subaru when I can just get a car for $7k more, sorry shoot me. Niche subreddit hivemind is always so crazy lol
