I think my breastfeeding journey is ending and I’m heart broken.

I have two kids. One is 2yrs 6 months and the other is 9 months.

I exclusively breastfed the first kid until he was 21 months then weaned him due to having the second kid. I loved Breastfeeding my first, he loved it too and would give up just about everything to have milk. Even the most congested/sick he ever got he would try and breastfeed. He latched beautifully from birth. I did have some trouble with my nipples cracking and being sore but it faded by about three months. He never took a bottle or drank pumped milk - just baby to breast only.

My second had a little bit of trouble latching and so we started out rocky but he (like his brother) never took bottles or pumped milk previously. No one seemed to believe me including lactation specialists so I basically navigated it all based on my own instincts and we eventually sorted it out and have happily been exclusively Breastfeeding until Monday.

On Monday he became very sick with a really snotty nose and lots of congestion. He still breastfed but I had to use steam and saline to clear his nose before every feed. It was working fine all Monday and we were on top of it.

Tuesday morning he woke up at 5 to have his usual overnight feed and he has not breastfed since then. I put him to the boob and he screams like I’m torturing him because he tried once Tuesday around 8am and he realised he couldn’t breathe and got very scared. He is now much better from his cold but will not tolerate having breastmilk straight from the source and looks at me like I’ve betrayed him. I have tried every single pose I can think of. Even some that are just bizarre like laying him on the floor and hovering over him. Or doing it at the change table or in a steamy bath.

I have been pumping and feeding him what I pump in an open cup as he refuses to take bottles. However, (I don’t know if this is usual for pumping) I can never pump as much as I can breastfeed and was pumping roughly 90ml every pumping session, which was about 40 minutes. I feel like I could barely keep on top of his appetite.

Now my supply has dwindled and I’m only pumping max 60ml after 40 minutes to an hour of pumping. It’s not enough to keep up with him and he’s hungry so I’ve had to run down and buy some formula.

I was going to breastfeed him until he was two like I wanted to do with my first and now I’m worried that he will never go back to the breast. I have nothing against formula feeding I just really enjoy Breastfeeding and really wanted to do it for as long as I could.

Side note: I still haven’t got my period back and I really don’t want to. I think it’s coming back though and I’m just super duper emotional.

Please give me any advice/ideas you can think of! Or just commiserations. Thank you for reading

I used voice to text to write this post as I’m currently pumping and holding a child sorry if the grammar or spelling is odd!

Edit to add: I don’t think how emotional I am truly came out in this post. I have been crying and just a mess about the whole thing. I don’t know if I’m just overreacting or if it’s hormones. Please give me a sanity check!

Advice on capsule wardrobe plan. Located NSW, Australia.

Hello, I’d love some advice please!

I rarely if ever feel the cold and, as it’s now winter, I find myself wearing my dresses and pant/top combos only. So I figured now would be as good a time as any to try to cut back my clothes and focus on natural fabrics. Everything listed is either cotton or linen (excluding my bike shorts, bras and cossies).

I’m a breastfeeding mum so everything is breastfeeding friendly.

Sarong x 1
Stockings x 1
Total 15

Total all up: 80 items

Additional info: I wear a uniform to work so I haven’t included any work outfits as I don’t need them. I also have several events coming up with a dress for each event and one pair of heels that I’m not counting either.

Is this an orb weaver and is something wrong with it? NSW

Little dude doesn’t do much but hang out under the porch railing during the day and moves out to the wall during the night.

It just kind of stays there and doesn’t have a web. Is this normal behaviour? Is it dying or just inactive for winter?
