New machine to run Lightroom classic

Hi All –

Seeking help from this community.

I need to buy a new machine (Mac) to be able to process my 48MB raw files from my Nikon D850.

I have been looking to buy a used Mac mini M4 pro, but just saw the new Mac mini M6 for less money and I’m wondering if the Mac mini M6 with
12-core CPU / 12-core GPU / 32GB RAM will be able to process an import and workflow of several hundred images off a card without a spinning pinwheel… Or do I have to go back to the M4 pro?

Also – for anybody who has yet to purchase, not sure about renewals, but Amazon is currently running Lightroom/Lightroom classic for $69.95 for a year.

Thanks in advance!

Moving to the cloud

** ****I could not change the heading/subject but this should read moving from desktop version Lightroom V **to subscription to Lightroom classic*

Hi – seeking wisdom from the community here.

I’ve been avoiding what will become a lifetime subscription to utilize software that I used to purchase and own. I’ve come to the realization I must subscribe.

What I didn’t realize is this was gonna further lead to upgrading my MacBook.

I am a very part-time professional and full-time enthusiast, and someone who consistently buys used products on Facebook marketplace.

I shoot with D850 and one of the primary reasons for purchasing is to be able to shoot in RAW and process accordingly. I will want to take advantage of the new/current features, including certainly AI.

Of course, this means I now need to buy a new larger external hard drive and will also subscribe to Backblaze to backup my new 4TB drive🤷‍♂️(unless someone has a better idea)

I do not want to face the pinwheel, but also don’t want to buy the most current laptop. I am focused on buying something that should last through Adobe‘s upgrades for hopefully 3+ years again, avoiding the pinwheel.

Who knew that when I decided to upgrade from my D300, the camera equipment would be less expensive than the additional hardware and software to gain the full benefit?🤣

With that said which MacBook configuration can I get away with and be happy?

Thanks in advance!

Evaluating/comparing spine surgeons

Hi –

A very good friend is comparing surgeons in advance of needing laminectomy L2 – L5, and fusion L4/L5 possibly L3/L4.

One surgeon will do this with a CT scan and do it minimally invasive. The other does full open.

Curious what types of question/determining factors one would use to select between these two. Both are very highly regarded in the greater Boston area.
