I'm 26, almost 27, and beginning to look into IUI, as I really want to start by own family (even without a set partner). My parents are extremely supportive, and have already given their "blessing" to go forward with this process. They have already said that themselves, and my family will be there to support me in any way needed.
I'm a lesbian, and am worried that if I try and wait forever for a long term partner, that I will run out of time to start my own family, especially since IUI can take a while. My intended goal is to begin the process by the time I am almost 29, which would be the Summer of 2028. I may have a partner by then, may not.
I have set aside an account for funds ($10-$15K), as well as scheduling an appointment for a Pap smear at the end of this month, and getting established with an OBGYN.
Is there anything else I should be doing this far in advance to prepare?
