Any good song recommendations for someone who's never listened to a single k-pop song?

I've never listened to k-pop a single day in my life but my little sister does and i thought I'd give it a try and try something new

I just listen to underground/trap rap so I have no experience with K-pop at all I just know bts and blackpink exist

although i doubt it would replace my music taste it's still fun to try new music genres so If you know any k-pop songs you think someone like me would like let me know!

Songs that have non-English and non-? Korean lyrics?

A bit of an obscure one here, but seriously. I'm just asking for stuff like these bc it's pretty rare in the KPOP community from what I've seen.

I'm specifically NOT looking for [language] Versions of songs, just an actual, different song

Depressing songs (not just for lyrics, but especially for the music, it has to be downbeat)?

(examples: Lonely boy by TXT, Elevator by Jonghyun, Nothing Lasts Forever by HA:TFELT)

Recommendations for albums that are thematically consistent (concept albums?)

I just recently got into kpop but something I'm noticing is that (no shade) when concepts are discussed in kpop it really only goes as far as a theme in a photoshoot lol or the set of the music video. I also feel like maybe some groups use their lore/storylines as an explainer for their new albums but it doesnt really end up making sense. The albums tend to just end up being a bunch of different songs that could just as easily all be singles. Again no shade and also again i'm still a new kpop fan so I don't know much. That being said, can someone recommend me some kpop albums that do follow a theme from start to finish? It doesnt have to be as strict as you have to listen to this album in full and in order, and of course the definition of concept album changes depending on who you ask, but at the very least every song follows a similar theme and they all cohesively go together. (but if there does exist an album like the former that would be great)

Nobody asked but this was bothering ever since a group dropped photo teasers for their album and everyone got excited by the theme of the photoshoot and started thinkingn of all these ideas and then the album dropped and it was completely unrelated to the theme of the photos lolol and this has happened so many times with many groups at this point im like just drop the single lol

edit, reading this over please excuse my bad english and how snarky this sounds i enjoy kpop just thought itd be cool to see if something exists out there

Girl group songs similar to BoyNextDoor?

I'm looking for girl group songs similar to Nice Guy, One and Only, Let's Go See the Stars, or But I Like You. Boy group songs are fine too, but I'd really like to hear girl group songs with a vibe similar to BND. Thank you! <3

How do sellers of fanmade K-pop merch handle copyright/legality issues?

I want to make and sell BoyNextDoor-related fanmade merch (photocards, keychains, etc.) featuring the group. I know sellers do this all the time in the fandom space, but I'm trying to understand the legal side.

 • Is it actually legal to sell fan-made merch that uses a group's likeness/branding?
 • Is there a gray area if the designs are original artwork of mine, just inspired by the group (rather than using official photos/logos)?
 • How do existing fanmade sellers get away with it, is it more "companies tolerate it" than "it's technically legal"?

[Help/Survey] Academic research on how K-pop Lore/Alternative Universes influence international fans (Takes < 3 mins!)

Hello fellow K-pop fans!

I am a student currently conducting an academic study for my research paper regarding how K-pop companies' transmedia storytelling (fictional universes/lore) affects international fans' consumer behavior and helps overcome cultural or language barriers.

To gather empirical data, I have designed a short, straightforward survey. It compares the fandom experiences of lore-heavy groups (like aespa, ENHYPEN, etc.) versus non-lore/concept-focused groups (like SEVENTEEN, IVE, NewJeans, etc.).

Survey Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScdABlCJZRDLu-e7-7o7h9urAI5u9AvGxt1DZ7Uafz5iJIZxw/viewform?usp=header

Key Details:

Length: Only 11–14 multiple-choice questions (Takes less than 3 minutes).

Privacy: Completely anonymous and secure. No personal information or email addresses are collected.

Purpose: Used strictly for statistical analysis in this academic research.

Your response is incredibly valuable to me as this study heavily relies on the diverse perspectives of international K-pop fans. Thank you so much for your time and for helping a fellow fan out with their academic research. Your support means the world to me!

The survey will be opened till September, so feel free to participate!

Please help me find similar songs!

So I was obsessed with After School's Dressing Room, and it reminded me of Red Velvet's Will I Ever See You Again?. They sound similar, and I like both vibes and sound.

I don't mind if you recommend boy groups/girl groups. Thanks!

I need some tips for a first-time concert goer who's going alone (and is also pretty young ig? 😭😭)

So BOYNEXTDOOR is coming to my country this year for their world tour, and I secured floor tickets. I've seen a lot of people asking for concert tips online, but I'm still pretty nervous about this because I'm going alone and I'm only 15, and it's my first time so I'm completely new to this. Do you guys know when I should get there, what to bring, and idk, any like warnings beforehand or things I should know? Would really appreciate it, thank you!! 🥹🥹

Side detail: The tickets I got said "Standing GA - Platinum" and it was more expensive than the other standing tickets, so do you know what differences there would be? Ty!!

Looking for a specific song/MV

My sister says she remembers a gg song I played about a year ago that was girly and had about 4-6 people in a convertible car. She also said that at some point there were some kind of preppy school uniforms. I cannot for the life of me figure out what video it was and I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas !!

How to know if the photocards I bought are official (NewJeans)

Hi everyone! I need your help to know if the photocards I bought are official. 2 days ago, I bought 3 photocards of Hanni (2 photocards from How Sweet Hanni ver. and 1 photocard from the How Sweet Weverse version).

I noticed that the Weverse version is kind of a different size compared to the standard album of How Sweet photocards (just a millimeter) and it's quite thin too. Also, when I compare the color of the Weverse to standard, the Weverse doesn't have the same color to standard at the back of the photocard.

Is my Weverse version a lomo? Or are all 3 fake? Please let me know because this is my first time buying photocards so I don't really have the knowledge to know what's what. All the answers will be deeply appreciated. Thank you !! :))

My friend calls me a horrible person for supporting Kpop

I need some advice!

Recently a friend of mine has gotten into Ateez which is great. BUT, ive been a Kpop fan since late 2017 and I don't think she understands I cannot drop some artists because of her reasoning.

She claims that every artist is racist except for like 2 or 3 groups she's seen. Here's the problem. While I do not listen to the Kpop idols who are extremely racist and arrogant. I do listen to groups under bigger companies. For example I am aware that JYP ent can be viewed as problematic by some. I listen to stray kids. I know some members are problematic but my friend calls me a horrible person for supporting them anyway. In my mind just because one member is bad doesn't mean they all are. And I'm not throwing away hundreds of dollars worth of albums because she thinks I'm horrible because I enjoy their music.

I do not claim they are angels nor do I blindly defend them. I simply enjoy the art. I personally view Kpop Idols as showing a persona rather than always their true self. I think it's okay to like the looks and the artists music but not the real personality of a member in a group. Am I in the wrong for supporting Kpop or is my friend way out of line? I'd love to hear your opinions!
