Regarding Volta Rhythm

It's amusing to me how many different ways I've heard really great drummers count Cygnus's, well forgive me if I call it anything, bridge? 4m 17s into Cygnus. Truly the fuckin dopest beat ever to me, but that's not the point.

I know Omar has said he's a caveman but cmon, dude has been writing jazz fusion for over a quarter century.

I guess what I'm asking is how to count fragmented meters + swing/feel + compound signatures.

Absolute GOAT band, any era. Every era. Endless inspiration, I still think about it. I guess maybe it's not meant to be counted.

Hello,

So this is a rather slippery subject from my experience but I figure a shot in the dark might be worth trying. I have an Acer Nitro AN17-51 with an Intel 17-13700H and Nvidia 4060. I game but I mostly use it for audio production. I had done all sorts of sketchy things with the kernel and registries to improve DPC latency (effectively audio stability to prevent pops and drop outs) but over time, my computer's boot speed was degrading and eventually became unusable (I attribute this to experimental kernel .bat stuff I had set and forgot about).

After having done all that and starting from scratch yesterday, I realized only two of the drastic steps I'd taken really seemed to make the difference. The first was a clean uninstall/reinstall of the graphics driver (DDU and NVClean install using the Nvidia Studio driver). The second is using PowerSettingsExplorer to unhide Processor Idle Disable in the windows power settings. When working on music, I disable processor idle which results in completely acceptable results when analyzed in LatencyMon and (within reason) no drop outs in my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). This is undesirable though as it leaves my computer basically just cooking at thermal throttle, sure to shorten the computer's lifespan.

A few less drastic things do make a slight difference, such as settings everything power related (windows power settings as well as nvidia settings) to maximum performance. Setting Nvidia Low Latency to Ultra may or may not have helped too, hard to tell.

When I first got this laptop in late 2023, the audio stability was way better and I didn't have to jump through all these hoops. After the first time I reinstalled windows (yesterday was the second time), I had to start doing all these un-intuitive things. Surely, there has to be a simpler solution? No other computer I've ever had has been this finicky.

I know this is a rather broad subject, but I appreciate any input!

Edit: I should add, it games just fine, great even. It's purely audio production where whatever the issue is, becomes unacceptable.
