Are we not going to talk about how weird and authoritarian the mod of r/haiku is? I made a post of this haiku:

Sometimes, I say things // of prime numbered syllables // which mean more than moot

Here was the response from the mod after taking this post down with my commentary in brackets, I thought it was creepy and authoritarian:

“Sometimes, I say things of prime-numbered syllables which mean more than moot”

Although presented as haiku, this is not haiku

(The first stanza has 5 syllables, the second 7, and the third 5 again. This is a haiku, no?)

Do read the second sticky post on sentence submissions,

Then read the top sticky post on writing haiku

(I wrote a haiku, not all haikus have to be about nature and it’s weird that you police it like that)

You also ignored the guidelines and all other submissions with the // separator.

(K, it was still legible though so I don’t think this should be an issue)

This tells me you have no real interest in haiku other than posting your something or other

(Ok redditor)

Post removed.

(End of his message)

Surely I’m not the only person who thinks this is a weird and arbitrary power trip right? Reminds me of that mod of r/art. I fully expect for this post to be taken down too, but I hope at least that it gets people thinking before it is. I got a warning before posting this of a potential ban if I post public criticism of r/haiku here, I also think this is weird.
