Head Prestige Pro 600

Got one of my dream rackets of all time today. Wasn't a bargain - had to pay quite a bit. Still, these are unicorn type of rare in my post-Soviet country so I knew I would be kicking myself if I skipped this deal. Bonus point for being just not "like new" enough to not stress over taking it out for a hit. It's been a while since I hit with a midsize and I have been missing the feel they got.

BTW specs are (strung, but no overgrip): Weight - 360 g Balance - 311 mm SW - 326 kg/cm²

Ti.Pro Tour aka Ti.Classic - real PT57A or something on its own?

Got this racket and wondering what am I looking at really - a proper Pro Tour 630 or just something different that partially shares the name and the color scheme. Research on forums was inconclusive.

TK55A grommet set, TK82 pallets (hinting at China manufacturing), translucent gray buttcap with silver "Power of light" center and no trapdoor. 95", 18x20, 21mm constant beam. Specs came out to all 330s with strings but no overgrip/dampener - 330 grams, 330mm balance, 330kg/cm² SW.

Do Head's various magic materials really exist?

I was watching the "How a HEAD Tennis Racquet is Made" video as well as some recent videos with influencers visiting the Head's Kennelbach HQ, and paid close attention to how they create the rackets. What never left my head (pun not intended) is that all I could see in the process of shaping the racket was pure graphite and at no point any other materials were mentioned/seen used. Yet their marketing has been claiming since the 90s they have been using all kinds of gimmicks to improve the rackets. In chronological order - titanium, piezo fibers, liquidmetal, microgel, youtek, graphene, auxetic, boron. I'm leaving out flexpoint since it was obvious a modification was done due to the holes in the molds, and liquidmetal had a different geometry due to the ribs so this might have worked.

It was proven that Babolat's "tungsten" in 2012's GT rackets was a bunch of BS, so given there is a precedent, I am interested in this:

  1. Has anyone sanded down an intelligence series racket to inspect if there are actually piezo fibers or is it just sticker?
  2. Is there proof there is any titanium/liquidmetal (gallium?)/boron metals used in rackets? Or microgel/youtek thing? I think there was some proof graphene was really used in the construction.
  3. Has anyone seen the auxetic fibers in reality? Like salvaged from a broken racket? Or maybe an X-ray image that shows them?

I know these are just gimmicks meant to maintain an illusion of technological improvement, but still, I wonder if it just something that exists or an outright lie?

New Head Extreme 2026

I was at my local tennis shop the other day to make some measurements on the RDC and saw a couple of new Extreme rackets. Today I checked some forums and apparently these are not released yet and even few photos exist?

The one that caught my attention is the MP XL! It's rare to see an extended length frame, and especially from Head these days. Of course I didn't get to hit with them but I must say the new paintjob is fire. Gloss tennis ball metallic with a thick clear coat, almost looks like glass.

Got a Tempo 298 Iga brand new for just 108 USD

Noticed it was on sale in a local tennis retailer so thought why not try it. Liked everything except for the mushy grip so replaced it with leather for a firmer feel. Strung with PolyTour Air at 23 kgs, surpisingly stiff even with this setup, but power is good. Opponents said serves became tougher to return. The finish is wonderful. Overall plays much more like a stiffer Pure Strike VS with more power rather than a more head-light T-Fight 305 ISO, if I have to compare it to my two known reference points.

Spec (with overgrip and strung but without dampener, stock -> modified):

Weight: 322 g -> 335 g
Balance: 323 mm -> 316 mm
Swingweight: 319 kg/cm2 -> 322 kg/cm2

These have a slightly different amount of weight at 12 o'clock under the bumper guard to match them exactly at 336 grams weight, 315 mm balance and 321 kg/cm2 SW. Restrung today with Yonex PolyTour Air at 23 kgs, on my way to test the new string now 😎
