Anonymous kids grr!!!

It’s A-levels day: for those not in the UK, that’s exams students take to go to uni / higher education / apprenticeships. We used to send staff out, now we’re no longer invited. Today, three of our schools have sent in gushing press releases with nice pics .. and called the pupils (for example) John H and Mary B. No last names. These are adults of 18! It’s so annoying. Emailed them back and said the pics won’t go in without full names but I’m not hopeful. Aaaarrgh!!! I’ve got to rant somewhere!

Two question for working reporters ...

Two small things, wondering what everyone else's experience is.

  1. An old person recently commented that our website address format (in print) is confusing. To contact a website we'd end a story with <<... for more information go to reddit.com. >>

There's a full point there, and he said he never knew whether this was part of the address or not, and his friends were the same.

I've started avoiding ending sentences like this, or writing << see the website (reddit.com) or call ... >> Presumably the same problem with email addresses. Anyone else had this and what do you do? Or is it just a matter of writing round the issue?

  1. I get AI (MS CoPilot) to run a final check of some subbed stories and it regularly does not run the check but gives me the contact details for the Samaritans instead (ie stories with any kind of mental health issue in, which is a lot - and it's just done it with a religious cult story). Anyone else get this? I'm just going to add "I will never need the Samaritans" to my list of instructions. Intelligent my arse.

A car with the reg DB 1 just drove past me. Anyone know who owns it? Sold for £437k apparently. I’m beginning to doubt my eyes …
