Uncertainty over D/FN/DC
Long post warning because I think too much and styling is a special interest of mine 😆 thank you so much in advance for your help!
Hey! Long time lurker, hoping to get some slightly more objective people to help me out. For a couple years I’ve been researching the Kibbe system and occasionally dipped into Kitchener’s essences. I know I have vertical no matter what—most people are surprised to find out that I’m about 5’ 6”, and I’ve been described as tall in bearing and personality as well as generally looking best when accommodating vertical. But I’ve been slightly up in the air about the precise ID.
I have dramatic essence and gravitate toward long lines that emphasize narrowness… but I’m unsure about balance and width. Definitely no curve that I can see. My favorite outfits are unbroken vertical lines that emphasize my general yang. Trim and sleek is my usual look, either skinny/straight jeans or anything fitted in the hips and loosening below the glutes like palazzo pants. A few photos in here are some favorite looks of mine.
Generally, my bones are long and joints are sharp/pointy (and have been described as such by others), and the bone structure in my face is prominent, particularly jawline, nose, and cheekbones. The full body typing photos don’t show my face as well (and being a natural ginger, my face is pretty low contrast without makeup), so I’ve included a couple photos from events/photo shoots I’ve done that better show my facial build. I’ve been described as intimidating/imposing or statuesque before. Tiny wrists, but lately I’ve become more athletic looking esp in shoulders so I’m unsure of “broadness” in joints like my knees or ankles.
About possible FN—I’ve put on about 10-15 lbs of muscle in the last couple years which has mostly gone to my shoulders, arms, lats/back, and hips—much of what you see in my arms/back is very new (flexed photo to illustrate lats adding more to my frame). That being said, I’ve often felt that my shoulders are a little broad, though when I’ve mentioned it to others, they have said otherwise. When I’ve tried typical FN lines they’re not my favorite, and it’s up in the air still if accommodating width does anything for my frame. Flowier outfits usually make me look less serious, but some look pretty good.
About possible DC—I do sometimes think I look best with a bit of waist definition and don’t usually like how I look in untailored or oversized clothing. I haven’t looked as far into balance-accommodating outfits as I have into vertical and width accommodations, but I love a good waist cinching belt.
Also to note, I have lumbar and thoracic scoliosis… hence why it looks like I’m leaning to my left. Thankfully I can mask it with good posture, but it’s there enough that if I were to get straightened out I’d be a couple inches taller 😆
ETA: I do have issues with straps staying on my shoulders sometimes and have always had problems with anything strapless or one shouldered staying up regardless of how tight it is, unless there’s boning in it such as a corset style bodice holding it up for me
