Mentorship / Guidance for Lab Diamond Jewelery business in Dubai

Hi everyone. I run a lab grown diamond jewellery brand from Surat, India. My family has been in the diamond trade for years and we make everything in our own workshop with over 50 artisans, so we control quality and pricing directly instead of buying from middlemen.

Over the last few months we ran ad campaigns targeting Dubai and got a good response. This week I flew in to personally deliver some client orders, and meeting customers here convinced me the demand is real. Now I want to set up a proper physical presence, likely a small studio where clients can see pieces, get consultations and place custom orders.

I know how to make and sell jewellery. What I do not know is how business works on the ground here. Trade licenses, choosing between mainland and free zone, finding the right location, hiring, and honestly just how things get done in Dubai.

I am here until Friday and would love to meet anyone who has built a business here, works in retail or jewellery, or mentors early stage founders. Even a coffee and honest advice would mean a lot. If you know someone I should talk to, I would appreciate an intro.

Happy to share more details in DMs. Thank you.

Dutch Marquise + Kites = Magic

Recently crafted this engagement ring for a client based out in the US, they were on a hunt for a Dutch Marquise only hence we opted for this 2.89ct Dutch Marquise cut diamond with claw prongs . The setting is vintage inspired with floral filigree work done on the band throughout , moving onto the sides we’ve used marquise and kite shaped diamonds to complete the look.

Flower Earring 17cttw | headturner

I was fortunate enough to work on this incredible pair of earrings recently , these are 3ct each E color and Vvs2 solitaires in the middle and we have used 0.75ct each diamonds on the peripheral. Our artisans have done a wonderful job setting the diamonds and we can see it through the video of how bright and white they are facing up . All diamonds are lab and EF color or better and VS1 or VVS clarity diamonds , set in 14kt white gold the backs are also U locks to prevent them from drooping at all ! I feel incredibly lucky to be getting the chance to work on such beautiful pieces at the age of 20, thank you so much ☺️

Heart and Arrow Diamonds For The Win

I recently finished this ring featuring a lab grown diamond of 3.32cts E color and VS1 clarity, it’s a cathedral basket setting with 6 claw prongs. The setting and polish work on this ring is super neat and really adding to the heart and arrow effect, the diamond itself has a beyond beautiful face up and looks super white with very clean facets. Do let me know your thoughts on the same !

The Trendy Stack

This ring features a 3ct E color and VVS2 Oval Brilliant cut and a marquise and round alternating band . The other band is a plain marquise band covered 3/4th with diamonds, inspiration taken from another insta page. The oval solitaire has little to Minal bow tie and crafted in just 5.5gms of 14kt gold. With claw prongs on the ring and a lotus basket with small diamonds studded there it’s a truly marvellous piece !

Beatiful Butterfly Uncut Diamond Earrings

These earrings took longer than expected to finish and I’m genuinely happy with how they turned out. 9kt gold, 13 grams, over 7 carats of diamonds. Uncut polki in the centre (that’s the irregular sparkle), surrounded by tapered baguettes, then princess cuts, pear shapes, and rounds filling out the rest. Blue and green enamel hand-painted on the wings. The tricky part was making five different cuts work together. Polki is soft and diffused. Baguettes are clean and architectural. Rounds give you that classic sparkle. Princess cuts are sharp and bright. Pears add elegance and flow.

Everything set by hand at our workshop in Surat. Each pair is completely one of a kind because the polki stones are genuinely uncut and unique.

Happy to chat about any part of the process if you’re curious.

She saved the reference. We saved the day. 3ct oval marquise band ring.

This one took some doing.

Our client came to us with a reference photo of this exact design and said "can you make this?". Oval solitaire, marquise scatter band, tulip setting with diamonds peeking through underneath. The kind of ring where every angle has something going on.

Here's what went into it:

  • 3ct oval lab diamond, IGI certified E VVS2
  • 1.35ct of marquise and small accent diamonds on the band
  • Tulip prong setting with diamonds set inside the tulip itself
  • 5.5gms of 14kt gold
  • Made to order, start to finish, in our workshop in Surat

The reflection on that black surface is doing a lot of heavy lifting but honestly the ring earns it.

If you've got a reference saved somewhere on your phone, slide into our DMs. That's literally how this starts.

My first necklace (and I’m proud)

First time I attempted something of this scale in my own workshop. 90 grams of 14 karat gold, 48 carats of FG rose cut diamonds, 9 carats of round brilliants and 200 carats of Russian emeralds. Every single rose cut made to order.
Rose cuts are unforgiving. Getting 48 carats of them right, all to order, in 12 days meant two CAD designers barely sleeping and me on the workshop floor at 3am more nights than I'd like to admit.
There is something about the way rose cuts catch light that no other cut does. Pair that with deep green Russian emeralds and it stops being jewellery. It becomes something else entirely.
12 days. Worth every sleepless night.

Please share your thoughts on my work, thanks 🙏

My First Wedding Necklace (and I’m so proud of myself )

This is my first full heavy wedding necklace I’ve made. Quite literally spent sleepless nights in the making starting from the cad design all the way to the actually, this was made using lab grown rose cut and round diamond and lab grown Russian emeralds. This was made in 90gms of 9kt gold, 48cts of rose cut diamond and 8cts of small round cuts. All rosecuts were FG color and VS clarity and so were the small rounds. I am very much proud of this work given the amount of time and effort we had spent as a team in commissioning this piece. We had gotten all the rose cut diamonds cut on order basis for this very special piece in order to meet its requirements, would love to hear your thoughts on the same and you can dm for better videos or pictures!
