Pen and Paper tricks, like Magic Clock

OK, two parts to this. 1- There was a TV series about magic and such, possibly hosted by Max Maven, that often featured effects like showing a grid of flags, asking you to start on a flag with yellow in the color. Follow directions- and always end up on the same flag.

The show had a lot of other effects like this- clock faces, pictures of animals, etc.

2- The old Games Magazine and other sources used to do pages of tricks. The one I recall the most was a circle of numbers with 'a tail'. You started on the tail, counted any number from X to Y. Then you counted some number the opposite direction- ignoring the tail. At the end, you were on a predicted number.

Is there someplace with a collection of these kinds of effects? Book, website, whatever?

I'd like to use them with my grandkids, possibly written on cards stored in my wallet.

Pretty much any tricks, stunts, puzzles, etc that start with 'Draw a..." or that can use a printed image to interact with.

Better name for magic hobbyists?

Obviously there are professional magicians, and amateur magicians who do stuff for groups for fun and tips, etc. but what about those of us who pretty much only perform for ourselves or a couple of family and friends?

Magic Hobbyist (Hobbyist magician) is the closest I can find, and something about it just bugs me. Shari Lewis did a book 'Magic for the Non-Magician' that was nicely aimed at people like us, but 'non-magician' is worse than Magic Hobbyist.

Part of my thinking is that when I want to do a trick for friends, coworkers, etc., I really want to avoid the 'magician' label to prevent them from making assumptions. An amateur magician doing tricks is almost automatically assumed to be using magnets, invisible thread, rigged decks, etc.

A coworker just showing you something interesting they found online, especially if they are only using found items, can get away with magical murder.

Honestly, the main reason this is on my mind is that I am doing an article for my own pleasure with the working title of "EDC Magic for the Non-Magician, or Magic from the normal junk in your pocket, brain, and found objects" and I hate the Magic for Non-Magicians bit here.

Any ideas?????

Blue Dot flags?

My poor homemade Blue Dot sign broke.

Any one know where I could get a 3'x5' outdoor Blue Dot flag to replace it with?

I'm thinking of special ordering one, but that's not real cost effective, and I'm afraid painting one wouldn't look sharp or hold up.

Thanks for any ideas!

Hopping Halves- missing a part!

Hi! I'm getting back into magic since my grandkids are interested.

I've got a chunk of my old stuff still sitting around but am missing the shaved half dollar that fits the shell.

Any chance anyone can sell me one, point to where I can buy one, or share some easy way to make my own?

(I have a Dremel and figure I can grind the edges down, but getting them even and fitting properly is probably tricky.)
