Went to my local Costco on a Friday night. Line for the self checkout was long. Part of the issue was that there was a couple very slowly scanning everything, and stopping after every item to review the screen and argue with each other over the item.

That inconvenience aside, I was put off by the person behind me. One of the mobile scanning employees came to my cart, scanned my items, and when I was done, the person behind me was now in front of me. I said to the “I believe we were ahead of you”, and they responded, “You were having your items scanned “. I replied, yes, but we are still ahead of you.”.

The mobile scanner then scanned their items, and the entire time, they blocked access to the self checkout. To add insult, they kept tapping their card to start, until I reminded them that they need to scan it. They replied “I know that”, and then scanned their card and paid, and said “Thank you” to my spouse and I when they left.

Is it proper etiquette to move in front of the person whose items are being scanned prior to the self checkout? Or was the person that started out behind us an entitled person. Location: Minnesota

EDIT: The register was not open when the person moved in front of me.

I am growing Mortgage Lifter tomatoes for the first time this year. They are allegedly indeterminate. I have a nice crop right now, but it looks like my only crop. I have no small green fruits, no blossoms, just large ripening tomatoes. I am growing them in very large patio pots that get regular watering and Tomato Tone weekly. Great looking and tasting, but I really thought I would be overwhelmed with tomatoes. Weather conditions, or am I doing something wrong?

My dappled willow that I bought last year at Home Depot has not leafed out yet. I’m thinking that “It’s dead, Jim”. It’s sending up suckers, but nothing from the graft. This tree was a replacement for one I purchased the year prior. Will third time be the charm? I really like the look, and I need an interesting tree in that size for the spot it is in. Maybe buy the next one from Bachman’s? What has been everyone’s experience with Dappled Willows?

EDIT: it has been properly watered, and the soil has been amended and fed. The garden that it is in looks great- the tree, not so much.

EDIT 2. The variety is zoned 4a. I live in 4b

I went to the Hennepin Tech College sale yesterday (great sale BTW). I put all my new purchases on my front porch, and covered them up last night. Unfortunately, my sweet potato vine ended up looking very sad. It is supposed to be 35 overnight. Should I cover again, or bring them into the garage?
