Former UCLA men’s water polo member James Robinson-O’Brien has been named the new head coach of UCLA women’s water polo - becoming the fifth coach in program history.

Robinson-O’Brien heads to Westwood after a four-year coaching stint at Hawaii, serving as an associate head coach for the first two before taking the helm as head coach for the next two. The Rainbow Wahine went 22-5 in his first year as head honcho, giving him the highest winning percentage - at .815 - of any first-year head coach in program history.

The former UCLA point guard was part of a group of 25 other
NCAA athletes, including former backcourt teammate Skyy Clark, that filed a lawsuit against the NCAA seeking eligibility through the 2026-27 season in California.
