Michigan small stream rod

I fish a creek in Michigan that is 6-15 feet across, ankle to 4 ft deep, brush choked and over hung with an average of 4-6 feet clearance overhead and steep sides is some locations. Fishing for Brown and Rainbows in the 6-16 inch range with the possibility of hooking into a Great Lakes steelhead. Fishing dries, droppers and small buggers. I am 6’4” and my 9 foot and 8’6” rods are such a pain in the ass in this situation. Can’t backcast and often can hold the rod high enough to get a good roll cast. I’m sick of losing flies and getting snagged. Looking to get a shorter rod. Tried out my friends 6’6” Maxxon Quill 5wt and liked it for the short time I handled it. Also thinking about a 6’6” 4wt or 7’0” 5wt CGR. Any opinions, feedback or other recommendations would be appreciated. Looking to not spend more than $200, without knowing if I am really going to like it over time or not. Thank you in advance.
