Nuerogenic bladder issues

When I was 11 I was held down by two nurses and a
Catheter forced into me as I had just come round from major spinal surgery. This gave me a tonne of trauma and it took me until I was 36 to be able to use a self catheter. I can only use a pediatric one as anything else is far too painful. However this takes me so much longer to pee. I drink tonnes throughout the day and it’s such a faff having to numb myself and then try to get the catheter in.

Does anyone know if there might be any other options for me that would work better? I know when I need to pee, but my bladder does not empty fully. I then have to push to get most of the urine out but this has caused issues with my muscles now so I really need to get it sorted somehow.

Would really appreciate any help you guys have.

Thank you!!

UPDATE: used Voy experience

Hi everyone!

I don’t know if you saw my post the other day about going to the doctors numerous times and the gp gaslighting me claiming she hasn’t seen me before, making me do bloods again and referring me to Gynae to deal with. Said if I went private I would get HRT, but she wouldn’t give it to me for some reason.

ANYWHO. Had my call today with Voy. The doctor was lovely, super knowledgable on everything and put me at ease. She was absolutely baffled at my GP’s behaviour and apologised on their behalf. After talking about symptoms she said immediately I was in perimenopause & that it was awful that the doctors had left me so long without helping me at all. She said there is still a lack of knowledge and GP’s are still thinking HRT = cancer and are reluctant to give them.

She asked me my treatment preferences- patch or capsule. She’s written me a 3 month treatment of Bijuve and we can alter it as we go along dependant on how I feel. She recommended I also get a bone density scan which can be done on the NHS & will write to my GP to get them to do so.

All in all; I am saddened that it took so long to get the help I needed & it wasn’t on the NHS, but thankful that I was finally listened to & can now look forward to feeling like myself again.

Thank you to those of you that listened to me ramble. Hoping for better days for everyone 💗

I can’t do this much longer

Hey everyone

Have been in the peri trenches now for quite a while, however this year it has ramped itself up and been unbearable.

I saw my GP who ran blood tests and asked me to get an internal scan to make sure nothing sinister was happening. She said once that’s clear I can come back and start HRT. The women in my family have a history of peri starting early for them, which was noted on my file.

I booked the appointment with her, and not only did she deny ever seeing me before but also tried to gaslight me and say it was her colleague! (I might be forgetful but I’m not THAT bad, plus it’s on my bloody record who I saw!) anyway, she started giving me the shpiel about because I am 39 I need another blood test and need to be referred to gynaecology for help.

I asked her if I went privately, would I be able to get the help I’ve been asking for and she said yes. I could have exploded then & there but luckily I didn’t. Anyway, I have paid £99 already and got an appointment Wednesday with Voy.

Im not getting my hopes up- anyone had any positive experiences with them? Or is it just going to be me pissing away more money for no help whatsoever? I’m just asking for my life back. My spark, my joy. I miss feeling like myself. I feel so lost.

I went to see my GP two weeks ago to discuss perimenopause. I feel as though it started at 36, but only ramped up over the last few months at 38.

He took all my symptoms down and sent me off for blood tests (which were normal. I had booked the appointment on a week where i was finally not feeling like total sh*t!). I went to check and see if the GP had done anything in terms of what to do next as he wanted me to come back after the tests. And then i see a Urgent Suspected Cancer Referral for
Gynaecological Cancer letter in my notes. He has put me on a two week wait for suspected cancer!?! Bearing in mind he or anyone else hadn’t mentioned it to me.

Did anyone else have to do this? Is it like a regular thing that happens? I stopped bleeding for a year, then had 2 heavy painful periods that were 2 weeks apart which is what I’m suspecting made him make the referral.

I’m already just so fed up of feeling this way as it is, let alone now wondering if I have cancer.

I’m really hoping it’s just an abundance of over caution!

I lost my grandy when I was a teenager. He was my number 1 fan and made me feel so special.

Is he happy now? Is he proud of me? What can

You tell me about him? I hope he knows just how much he is missed and loved.
