Pinched nerves after multi-day hiking - Boot recs for the future?

My pinky toes have just returned their full feeling around five weeks after coming home. I had walked 250k through Ireland to raise some money for charity, mostly along a mix of paved roads and trails. It was a great experience and I would love to expand on it in the future - however the lingering numbness was a bit of a put-off and I would be concerned about permanent damage.

Is it as simple as going for a wider toe box? I was wearing my ~8 year old Salomon X Radiants which are definitely due for an upgrade, but have read that lacing technique, reducing pack weight, and frequent resting can help too. Possibly looking at some Altbergs or Jim Greens when I have the income spare.

Hoping some of yous more experienced hikers can lend a hand (or foot?).

Tent poles/pegs & hand luggage restrictions.

I'll be taking a few random flights to see the eclipse in Spain this August - very excited! Unfortunately I have just realised that my goal to onebag (only using hand luggage) may have backfired.

We'll be camping for a few days and I am using an Alpkit Soloist XL. Does anyone have any experience with taking the poles and pegs through security? Specifically Belfast, London and Madrid if it helps. The .gov guideline makes no mention of it, and the CAA .pdf I found was over a decade old but did explicitly mention pegs as being banned as sharp objects which seems crazy to me...

If I got some cheap plastic pegs would I be safe to go through generally? Frankly, I am not in a great position to fund the extra £xxx for hold bags. Thanks all.

Mizen Head to Malin Head

Hey all, this summer I will be trekking from Mizen Head to Malin Head for a couple of charities. It'll be solo and mostly roadwalking, with a mix of hostelling, campsites and wild camping. I'm from the north coast and well aware of how changeable conditions can be - however weight is a big factor over this distance, so would love a bit of a gear review from any experienced west coast hikers.

Here's the full route:

Plenty of towns en route for resupply, emergency/storm shelter. Biggest deadzones will be the Glenveagh and Nephin parks.

In terms of hiking at home, I've done a fair bit across Antrim/Wicklow/Killarney.

Here's the core gear:

Item Name Weight (g)
Tent Alpkit Soloist XL 1310
Sleeping Bag Lixada LW180 680
Sleeping Mat Trekology UL80 Inflatable 560
Stove Alpkit Kraku 45
Pot Titanium Camping Pot with Lid (750ml) 122
Gas Go Gas 230g 230

Any feedback re. the route, roadwalking safety, conditions in the west throughout late June/July? Am aware of the Beara Breifne way, but plotted my own route for a bit of terrain variety and some nice rest days in Galway, Sligo, etc.

Bit of a random one, but best foot forward! Cheers.

Between the Storms

Particularly good vibes between the thunder and lightning a couple of nights ago, and a great chance to practice shooting on the north coast. Love the cloud layers!

Visiting every country in Europe via Interrail and was amazingly surprised by Slovakia. Excellent hikes with just enough snow at this time of year to make it interesting.
