Came back to the game after 4.5 years, and I'm loving it so much more thanks to the monthly event.

I played for a month when it was released, but it lost its appeal quickly. I'd go plant flowers and bloom big ones, but didn't really understand the point; it all felt a bit pointless, and the decor mechanic wasn't enough to keep me playing.

I read that the current event format has been in place since 2023. I don't know what it was like before that but don't remember any events when I played for a month at launch. But those missions and game pack pikmin (and knowing they're only for a limited time) have made me enjoy this so much, and have given me that "point" of the game that was missing for me the first time.

I came back to the game last week after looking for something that would motivate me to walk, and damn this has done that perfectly. I've loved learning all the mechanics in terms of increasing friendship and blooming the flowers I need for the missions. I discovered the discord, and it was so satisfying joining and 4 starring a giant event mushroom (I only contributed like 3k AP, but it was so fun to see and claim all the rewards).

I'e posted a couple of threads in the past week trying to understand the game better, and everyone was so helpful 😁 I learnt a ton from the comments there so thanks for being such a good community 😁

Does the formula of planting 55/55/55 of red/yellow/blue special flowers and the rest plain white flowers still work to guarantee a big white flower blooms?

I started from a seed with 0 flowers planted. Was trying to get a big white anniversary rose to bloom and it became red both times.

I just wanted to check if this method still guaranteed a big white flower? The guide I came across is 2 years old. I was sure I didn't go over 65 for yellow/red/blue before planting white flowers, but maybe I got it wrong both times so just wanted to double check 😅

What's the benefit of blooming a flower alone?

Just getting back into the game after about 4 years off, there's a lot to take in!

I think I understand the basic formula for blooming - e.g. I plant 160 yellow carnations and 140 white flowers, it will bloom into a yellow carnation.

But using that example, what is the benefit of that? I'll get yellow carnation nectar from the big flower and fruit with yellow carnation nectar, but am I right in thinking it would be nowhere near 80 (to feed to bud stage pikmin for double petals)/160?

Will my pikmin's friendship level increase more if it's a seasonal flower compared to a normal flower, or if I contributed more flower planting?

Please can you explain any other mechanics I may have missed?

Thanks!

I'm typing this after being unable to open up the back of my P's and Uni because of stripped screws, and the volume on my P's going up and down after trying to clean the battery contacts. That didn't actually help much anyway, and the lifespan of fully charged batteries can last me half a day to a few days. Local watch repair places couldn't help so my last hope is to drill into the screwhead and hope I don't cause further damage, which I'll only do if the device becomes unusable anyway.

If resale prices weren't crazy, or if there was a way to backup data, these issues wouldn't bother me as much.

Hard to remember that these are made as kids toys that aren't made to last forever!
