Trying to achieve a specific effect but unable to: instanced meshes animating along a curve, plus fading in / out at either side.

Hi all. I'm trying to achieve the following: I have a curve along which I would like to instance some meshes (let's say stretched cubes for now, it will be arrows in the end). The meshes will animate along the curve as if they are showing the flow of a fluid.

This setup is already in place and working.

However, the meshes appear and disappear abruptly at either end of the curve, so I tried to make so that their color was fading instead of them being always fully visible. Also this setup is already in place and working, but I am unable to combine the two of them. The best I could get to was the fading sections to move along the curve together with the instanced meshes.

The attached image shows the current setup, but anyway the blend file is available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OqTB_6ahqyWUR8IbhX6lAgVw6nfCQzHu/view?usp=sharing

Node setup

The SmoothFactor is used in the material shading to drive the material's alpha. The first frame situation is the following:

Frame 0

but then as soon as the timeline plays, the faded section starts moving and at frame 50 this is the situation:

Frame 50

What am I doing wrong? Is something like what I want to get obtainable? I admit most of this is "vibe coded" because I'm not great at GN yet, especially when animation is involved, but Google doesn't seem to be able to solve it anyways, even after he created the setup.

Thanks for your help.

Play animation using geometry nodes setup

Hi everyone. I am trying to obtain the following result but cannot figure out how this could be done.

My target is playing an animation when a certain condition in a GN setup is fullfilled. Most probably it will be boolean driven by some sort of python scripting panel add-on.

The animation is based on an object rotation or translation, and should have a duration of "xx" frames. If the boolean is true the object will rotate from a rest position to a certain angle, or move to a certain position, both having a maximum rotation/translation value at which the movement will stop. If the boolean is false and they are in the rotated/translated position, they will animate and move back to the rest position and stop there.

Think of a door opening and closing, or a drawer opening and closing.

While I know how to rotate an object based on the current frame / second the things I'm struggling with is how I get the initial frame value (i.e. the one in which the boolean changes its status) and make so that the movement happens from that very moment through the following "xx" (say, 60) frames. I think I may use a stored variable inside a simulation zone for the object position (rotation/translation) and make so that it increases to the fully opened status or decreases down to zero but cannot figure out a proper node setup.

Anyone that would like to help?

Estendere profilo compensatore / stipite.

Buongiorno a tutti.

Grazie!

Windows 11 compatible Sound card for Audacity

I know this might not be totally on topic (is it?) but I'm searching for a used sound card that won't break the bank and that will allow me (well, mainly my son) to simply plug the bass in and record.

I saw several Scarlet of previous gens but I fear that there won't be compatibility with W11 due to old drivers.

I am not obsessed with the specific model, though, and can evaluate other brands.

We don't need stellar quality but a hassle free workflow: basically, starting up Audacity and record, no additional software needed for now, we just want to avoid having to use the amplug, connect the headphones out to the back of the computer and deal with the delay (something that as far as understand wouldn't be a problem with the sound interface).

Any help or suggestion?
