Trying to save this 2009 manual cc

Poor car was owned by someone who didn't care about it. needs a new timing chain, hpfp, brake booster, clutch, and throwout bearing is done. Im doing a full interior restoration with a red suede headliner. the front seats are being re done aswell new doors, new hood, new bumper, new radiator support, and probably a million other little things im tired of people throwing these cars away, so I guess ill save it. Oh, btw if you wanna get your headliner back in without creasing it, you gatta remove the windshield :)

Golf r ea113 top end rebuild tips

60k miles on this engine timing chain blew up bent the valves. I have a feeling the previous owner money shifted the car. If anyone ever has to do a top end rebuild on these cars, here are a few tips.

  1. A mk5 bpy or any ea113 style head will work on these cars. You just need to swap the cams.

  2. With the bigger turbo, it is a pain to remove get a stud removal tool just look up 6 to 12mm stud removal tool and once those studs are out the turbo will come out. This also works for the k03 turbos in any 2.0t gen1/gen2

  3. For the turbo bracket that bolts down by the engine block, get behind the subframe with a super long 13mm wrench. You can overnight one off amazon, heat the bolt up, and get leverage. If I can do it on jack stands, so can you.

  4. The camshaft gurdle plate will not come off unless you remove the timing belt cam sprocket you need a spocket removal tool to get that off do not break the plastic timing cover behind the cam it costs 100+ to replace and you'll wait a few weeks for it to ship.

  5. Time the chain with the cylinder head out of the car it'll make your life easier, then install torque your head bolts, put the locking tool in, and then torque your cam phaser bolt, then the cam sprocket.

  6. Any information you need, just look up guides for the mk5 gti. I just listed the things i got stuck on and couldn't find, and that's about it. Good luck your ganna need it.

Hey guys, if anyone is looking for bigger brakes, the r32 calipers from a 2008 mk5 r32 bolts right up stock break lines and all. Makes the car look so much better too. My tires are 17s so they will fit but just barley. If the calipers do not come with calipers carriers most do ecs tuning sells them.
