Help with purchase decision

I am looking at buying an older used X3 as my next car, but I am hesitant to buy it because of the increased repair bill. I am not concerned with the cost of oil changes, premium gas, brakes/tires, or things like that, I am more concerned about the larger ticket items and how frequently they show up. I would likely be buying a model around 5 years old with anywhere from 60k-80k miles on it, so I want to be sure I am getting into something I can enjoy for a while before it may start giving me a headache.

If it helps, I am coming from a 2004 Honda Accord EX V6, so this would be a huge upgrade, but I am used to Honda repair costs. How big is the difference, really, and have you regretted purchasing your X3? How different would ownership cost be compared to a different model SUV like a Lexus or Acura?

I am looking at purchasing an X3 within the next few years as my next car. I currently drive a 2004 V6 Accord, so whenever that blows up I will be purchasing the X3. I like the way my accord drives currently and I think it has enough quickness for me. I am wondering if the X3 30i xdrive will have similar power to the accord, or if I should look into saving up a bit more to get the m40i. Has anyone had experience driving both models that can speak to the power difference? Is the 30i enough to have fun with but not too much to get you in trouble constantly?
