Columbian Ground Squirrel
Squirrels may be my gardening nemeses but dang they’re cute.
Tried a more illustrative look with the outlining, not sure if I’m sold yet but pretty happy with how this came out.

Painted my favorite neighborhood kitty friend showing off his forbidden belly floof. He tries to entice you to give him scritches but don’t be fooled- it’s a trap! Pets are only acceptable on the head or back, belly pets will be met with immediate claws 🤣
My (mostly) friendly neighborhood kitty friend always comes to visit me while I garden. He loves head and back scratches but when he gets all cute and shows his belly ITS A TRAP! He will f* you right up for touching that sacred, forbidden belly floof.
I’ve got a long ways to go, but I’m trying to become more loose and painterly with my paintings, as I’m inspired by the impressionists. Made this one from a reference image of a pretty Grecian courtyard and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
If I could change anything at this point I’d probably have used more paint/painted more thickly but that will be top of mind next time!
Critiques and suggestions for improvement welcome!!
These snapdragon beauties are grown from seeds I collected from a previous year’s garden of snappys. My first time growing anything from my own collected seed and I couldn’t be more proud! 🥲
Parent plant of all of these was a deep pinkish red, and I have several others budding so I can’t wait to see what those flowers end up looking like!
I’m a beginner painter in general, usually using oils but I’ve been experimenting with gouache and really enjoying it. Blending is harddddd compared to oils though!
This was my attempt at Manet’s Crystal Vase with Flowers. Any advice on blending or how I could improve here would be welcome 😊
I’m a self taught oil painting beginner here so be kind pls 😆 Did my best at a copy of Edouard Manet’s peonies to try and practice loose, expressive brush strokes and I’m pretty pleased with how it came out.
Turns out, teaching your brain to stop seeing “things” and see only color shapes is pretty challenging!
She wants to know why I haven’t filled the bird feeder yet this spring, and she wants to know now.
I’m also only two weeks into this medium so I have a lot to learn, but it’s lovely so far.
