How to stabilize the galaxy to actually play my game?

I started Fires of Defeat start and wanted to do a guerilla split run to be a pirate, build a FRF resistance and eventually overthrow Zyarth. So far so good, I got a couple of early stations both in FRF territory and Heretic's End, got the Hyperion, envoy+cypher, a Rattlesnake, a monitor and the occasional pirated ship from various factions to support my economy. I'm building my economic base in order to support the curbs and go to war with Zyarth

Or so I thought, because after around 60 hours in the save, the Xenon have gone absolutely nuts. They control all of Faulty Logic, they run Frontier's Edge and bombed second contact into neutral, they wreak havoc in the central Zya sectors so that the Ks and Is fly uncontested through Heretic's End into Morning star, they took Fires of Defeat and are taking over two Grand (or the adjacent sector) and of course they flood Hatikvahs choice with swarms of PEs and the occasional K/I.

I know that many people crave strong xenon and I don't care for the other factions that much, but I am far from self sustainable and they narrow my supply lines, especially by isolating more and more my HQ plus stations in Heretic's End and killing my ships with their Ks coming down from the northern sectors.

So what can I do to stabilize this game the most resources saving way? I need to spend my money on building more stations to get claytronics and hull parts running and I want to go on pirate expeditions, but what I do is flying my Hyperion or Rattlesnake 24/7 to take down Ks left and right like whack-a-mole and spend a small fortune on the repairs.

constructionplans.xml stops auto-loading plans after a certain number

Hi all,

I'm running into an issue with saved station construction plans and I'm hoping someone has dealt with this before.

Background: I keep my station plans in the profile's `constructionplans.xml` (Documents\Egosoft\X4\<ID>\constructionplans.xml), adding new `<plan>` entries directly by editing the file.

What used to happen: For a long time, this worked exactly as expected – add a `<plan>` node to the file, restart the game, and the new plan would show up permanently in the build menu / Station Design Simulator, no further action needed.

What happens now: After reaching some plan count (I don't know the exact threshold), this stopped working. Now, ANY plan beyond that point – whether it's freshly added to the XML or was already sitting in the file from before – no longer loads automatically on game start. I have to manually re-import it every single session/load via the in-game Import feature, even though it's already correctly present in constructionplans.xml.

  1. Has anyone else run into a plan count limit like this?

  2. Is there a known cap on how many plans constructionplans.xml (or the game's internal plan list) can auto-load?

  3. Is there a workaround besides manually re-importing dozens of plans every session (e.g. some tool, ini setting, or splitting across multiple files)?

Any insight appreciated!

How to handle SWI with other mods?

I'm thinking about dipping my toes into SWI for the first time, but I have an extensive mod list for the base game established. Since SWI is a total conversion, it would run into a lot of conflicts with the others mods, so what should I do? Just disable the others mods in the extensions menu (is this sufficient enough to not break SWI)? Make a clean second installation of X4 just for SWI? And since a lot of mods are quality of life, how can I determine which mods don't conflict with SWI?

Which NATO Divs are best suited for Air Superiority/Air only approach

For larping reasons, I wanna rely as much as possible on planes and maybe some arty/helos, utilizing other ground units as little as possible. Which Divs can you recommend for this approach?
