Can someone help? New Player

Brand new player here. Hello everyone. I own plenty of DLCs but I saw online that I should start the Cradle of Humanity first. I'm an Elite Dangerous,no mans sky and star citizen player but X4 feels 10 times more difficult. I'm on my first mission where you have to destroy the Xenon infrastructure and my ship is so weak even to put a dent on them. Not sure what am I doing wrong. I watched all tutorials etc. Once I deploy a satellite the xenon guys come and mess me up.

Any advice of how to approach? I really like how the game looks and feels and I have almost 5000 hours on Elite. I need few years break.

Anyone else daytrading while the empire runs in the second monitor?

I love to Market Auction Theory and Teladi so was wondering if anyone else here was also doing this.

ALSO the awesome new PIRACY MODS dropping are awesome!!!

When i talked to the creator of piracy Piracy Protocol, -- Colomaniac and requested an implement i wanted in the mod he responded and fixed it in 3 hours. I'm so looking forward to real pirate play-through where you set everyone as enemies and have to survive from stolen cargo and stolen ships with like 1 faction neutral to you only. (so you can sell to at least someone :])

SO Yea any other future pirates or current traders here? What are your experiences?

Xenon H uses

25 hours in to my first universe and I got a mission to plant satellites in a xenon sector. I figured what the hell I got a fast ship. First system I go to I have an empty xenon H sitting there. I did timelines before ever starting this playthrough due to reading about the DLCs while the game was downloading so I knew there was one in the game but didn't remember which system it was in. I captured it and sacrificed my scout ship and the captain of it (sorry half star pilot) but I got my first L ship. The question now is what do I do with it? I watched videos and looked at people talking about it and it seems the consensus is it sucks. Do I just sell it or leave it in heretic's end as a showpiece?

Best turret weapons for Dakka ?

Greetings, i'm quite new to the game and started building a complex, got my hyperion and envoy.

Got 25M in the bank and will probably have enough cash to get myself a L combat ship soon enough.

Now for the turrets...I'm aware now and then posts are being made about the effectiveness of X and Y turret, but I'm looking for turrets that feel like Dakka, I want to BRRRRT at enemies, would you be able to give me some advice for S/M/L turrets for that ?

Thank you

Cockpit issues

Somehow I lost the view of the cockpit glass. It's not the mesh,it's not the zoom by pressing Y. I can still see but it's like 200% zoomed. So no glass view or controls . Tried to find answer online. Everyone says CTRL H or press Y .

Any ideas?

My first playthrough

This is my first game, I’m discovering the X franchise, and my beginnings are rough. I’ve completed all the tutorials, and I’ve been playing my first game for about 80 hours now.

For now, I’m mostly exploring the game, doing a bit of trading, a bit of mining, and following a few main and side missions, but I haven’t built a station yet or really set up anything coherent. I haven’t really paid much attention to what’s happening around me yet. I’m mainly focused on understanding what I can do and how to do it 🤔

I know the game is a sandbox, so I can progress at my own pace, but I’ve seen that some players already have stations after just a few hours and an entire empire after a few dozen hours.

Since the universe keeps evolving even without me, I’m wondering if I might miss out on things , whether some factions might disappear before I get a chance to encounter them, whether other factions might develop very quickly and overwhelm me, etc...

Basically, this playthrough is more or less a tutorial for me. Do you think that once I understand most of the basic mechanics, I should start a new game, or does it really not matter?

How do I get NPC factions to buy from my wharf/shipyard?

I recently got a wharf up and running, it's fully self-sustaining with miners and whatnot so I don't actually have to provide it with anything, ask for a ship and it'll pop one out (as long as you don't ask for so many that it doesn't have enough materials in storage). The only issue is that no NPCs seem to be buying from me, I had some terrans land for repairs at one point strangely enough, I don't even have terran materials being crafted, but nothing else so far.

I have every S/M SPL ship blueprint and a fe PAR and ARG blueprints as well as equipment for every slot from all of those factions so I assume they should be buying as long as I have materials and don't have trade restrictions set (I don't).

Help With Mining Ships.

Hello all,

I’ve bought my first miner with a full crew and set them to mine in the Asteroid Belt via the behaviour screen.

The miner has a full storage, and is now on “waiting for signal”.

I’m assuming that’s because I haven’t discovered the necessary stations that use silicone yet, which I’ve mined, so I’m about to set off discovering some.

However, I also read that pilots without much skill will only sell in one sector or some shit? So would I need to find those stations in the Asteroid Belt so my miner will sell? Just so I don’t waste time exploring the wrong sectors haha.

I’m planning on sending my idle ships to explore all the sectors in Terran space anyway, but just so I know which one to explore first.

Thanks!

Version 9.0 Extremely Powerful and Aggressive Xenon

I am a new player and I think I need a reality check. Every one of the posts on this subreddit has many folks complaining that the Xenon are too weak and that they're a non-factor, non-issue. This is my second playthrough where I am having the complete opposite experience. In fact, this second playthrough is worse than the first. This all happened very quickly, within the first 10-20 hours of IRL game time.

Hatikva's Choice I - completely wiped out. In fact, they own it now. All ARG/ANT sectors are under constant attack, factories constantly destroyed, any ship entering and exiting harassed to the point of non-viability. I have to completely avoid that side of the map. For some reason, those two factions decided to stop building military ships. Now they're overwhelmed, resource starved, and cannot build even if they wanted to. In contrast, HOP and PAR are swimming in capital ships. TEL/MIN are also armed to the teeth. I don't know how much longer that will last.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if this is normal, or if I did something wrong. I just want to be able to continue to build my factories and eventually get a military to fight them back into their hellholes. FWIW - I am playing vanilla X4 with no DLC enabled. Thank you.

Stuck on grand exchange mission

Hey guys, looking for some help I’m a couple hours through my first play through on Terran cadet, I’m really enjoying it so far however in a recent main mission I was teleported by boso ta to the grand exchange headquarters and I’m a bit confused on what to do here? I have a few questions lol

  1. I’m trying to build the storage container however I cannot find the resources anywhere is there an easier way to do this?

  2. Is this space station(grand exchange) supposed to be the first one I gain? feels so weird getting it this early in the game

  3. I’ve been given a new ship with a captain as my own starter ship wasn’t taken with me, is there a way to get my old ship back to me as it is uncaptained

  4. Lastly how important are these missions to the main Terran story do I finish all of these to continue back to the missions I was on or do I have to make my own way back to the original systems?

Thank you for all the help

Version 9 no longer playable for me

It is a great game link includes system specs

https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198098845763/recommended/392160

Vanilla game ( don't know if modded versions affected... Don't use mods )

Tried lowering graphics to low

Using bazzite if that helps anyone

After a few days ( 3-4 ) the game starts glitching out

- immense ship shaking

- immense map shaking

- pilot seat sometimes obtainable but can't do anything except getup / sit down

- pilot seat sometimes unobtainable, can walk around ship nothing else

- carries through into save game

- black screen with white dot seen through cockpit, ship interior looks normal

- happened in boron start

- happened in stranded start

Things I don't know:

- does teleportation fix it? No idea don't have the research

Does anyone know how to revert it back to version 7 or 8

UPDATE 1: found version list, will try going back to 8.00 hotfix ( legacy ) see what happens

- don't have timelines

Do have:

- split vendetta

- kingdom end

- cradle of humanity

- tides of avarice

- Hyperion pack

UPDATE: 2 game saves not backwards compatible means starting from scratch

How to stabilize the galaxy to actually play my game?

I started Fires of Defeat start and wanted to do a guerilla split run to be a pirate, build a FRF resistance and eventually overthrow Zyarth. So far so good, I got a couple of early stations both in FRF territory and Heretic's End, got the Hyperion, envoy+cypher, a Rattlesnake, a monitor and the occasional pirated ship from various factions to support my economy. I'm building my economic base in order to support the curbs and go to war with Zyarth

Or so I thought, because after around 60 hours in the save, the Xenon have gone absolutely nuts. They control all of Faulty Logic, they run Frontier's Edge and bombed second contact into neutral, they wreak havoc in the central Zya sectors so that the Ks and Is fly uncontested through Heretic's End into Morning star, they took Fires of Defeat and are taking over two Grand (or the adjacent sector) and of course they flood Hatikvahs choice with swarms of PEs and the occasional K/I.

I know that many people crave strong xenon and I don't care for the other factions that much, but I am far from self sustainable and they narrow my supply lines, especially by isolating more and more my HQ plus stations in Heretic's End and killing my ships with their Ks coming down from the northern sectors.

So what can I do to stabilize this game the most resources saving way? I need to spend my money on building more stations to get claytronics and hull parts running and I want to go on pirate expeditions, but what I do is flying my Hyperion or Rattlesnake 24/7 to take down Ks left and right like whack-a-mole and spend a small fortune on the repairs.

To new players: You can have 2 Large freighters with the Hatikvah Trade Revolution

This video was done with no DLC.

When you do the Hatikvah Trade Revolution story arc, Dal Basta will task you to plant two spacesuit bombs on a pier. Proceed to the designated station, and just wait and observe. The first Pelican should be on its way to the station to dock, the names of these ship will be different from others. Instead of SCA Pelican, it will simply have the name "Pelican Sentinel". But even if you don't see and identify them, just keep waiting, don't plant the spacesuit bombs.

When the first ship arrives and successful docks at the station, Dal Basta will tell you that you failed, but tells you there's another one coming. At this moment, you can choose to plant the spacesuit bombs to succeed the mission, or choose to completely ignore it and fail. Either way, the story arc will continue to next mission and there are no lasting effects. There is no 3rd ship.

If you've already completed the mission and you planted the spacesuit bombs with the first ship, you can go back to the station and the ship should still be there. But if you waited for the second ship, there will be two Pelican Sentinels that are FOREVER docked to that station. They will not leave or try to get away if attacked. They also have weirdly low boarding resistance, despite having crew workers (should be a little higher). Board each ship with enough marines to overwhelm the crew. Despite the cutscene asking for backup, there is no one coming to help them. Just make sure you don't hit the station they are docked with, or it will join the fight.

These Pelicans are not the best freighters, but having them very early in a fresh start will help you a significantly (specially if you don't like using cheats). They will have items in their cargo space for you to do as you wish and they are somewhat equipped. So you can put them to work any way you want, or strip and sell them to a wharf.

The frigate I am using in this video is the derelict Osprey Vanguard in Company Regard, it has space for 15 marines.

Making a full blown Pirate Mod!

Hey what's going on guys!?

I’ve been working on a new mod CodeName "Pirate ARGG!", aimed specifically at making pirate-focused playthroughs more fun and giving you more ways to actually play like a pirate.

Current features in development:

  • Improved Bailouts - Reworked bailout logic to make piracy and capturing ships more rewarding. I’m still deciding whether to make the values adjustable or stick with a balanced preset.
  • Autonomous Pirating - Assign ships to pirate within a sector on their own, then have them bring their stolen loot back to a station of your choice.
  • Ship Pirating - Order your ships to specifically antagonize and pressure another ship with one goal in mind: take the ship, not destroy it.

There’s still a lot I want to add, so I’d love some input from people who enjoy pirate playthroughs.

What piracy features or QoL improvements have you always wanted to see in X4?

Throw your ideas at me! and if you want to follow the development, or post your ideas/requests in a better forum (and easier to track for me :) ) you can join the discord! Dragon's Lair

SideNote:
I am still working on my SES Mod as well (posting a new version soon with bug fixes) but having some issues with getting L/XL ships to drop their loadout in a way I like, took a small break to start working on this mod 👍

Torpedos / Guided Missiles question

So i wanted to test different types of rockets to see how effective they are and hit a brick wall

When my S ships have rockets/torpedos installed they tend to stay at very long ranges untill they run out of ammunition, what am i doing wrong here?

I want them to still use other installed weapons, close the distance with targets e.t.c

New Mod coming...Cinematic Explosions

Hi all,

Edit* I know there is a mod Fire and Smoke, and from what I have read alot of his mod was integrated in x4 7.0 Which means my mod absolutely uses his stuff because I use vanilla effects. My mod mainly targets the "violence" of the explosions, especially the pop at the end. If you don't want a pop this is not the mod for you

Mainpoint

I have always hated how games could have gorgeous graphics, and then the wimpiest explosions, endless space 2...sins, I fell off those games because, I don't know I just didn't get any satisfaction from the booms. Games like Eve Online (I used their explosion trailer song) look great and the explosions I tried to mirror but...its Eve, so I'm good, I tried playing, no thanks. And an old game called Hegemonia Legions of Iron had some spectacular explosions for 2008 that still hold up today.

I don't know the lore of the game, so these explosions are not lore accurate at all.

First of things first, this would not be possible without TheRealGibbon at Nexus Mods https://www.nexusmods.com/profile/TheRealGibbon

Also credit to Macbain81 original creator of Fire and Smoke--which was integrated into the base game at 7.0

https://www.nexusmods.com/profile/MacBain81/mods

Features- L ships now have shockwaves. XL and L ships have a lot more debris, electricity, and secondary propagation explosions. Also I managed to creatively use the warp in/warp effects in the explosion.

Ok a couple other things to get out of the way--

  1. I am not a modder, my first main mod was "Where did the Lights go" for Starfield https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/13800
  2. My main profession is 3D modeling, so hoping into engines/viewers, no problem...somehow editing things I can't see using an XML and coding? I have no idea but my brain is already at capacity with other things, don't want to put the time and effort into something I really built for 1 game and myself. I am only sharing just because someone else might find enjoyment
  3. Well how did you do this without that knowledge? Alot of AI back and forth and restarting the game to see if it worked or not. I had AI write the code/xml. I get thats basically everything, all I had was the vision but damn am I happy with how it came out. There are ZERO AI assets, all vanilla assets. Its just formatting of the XML. When I release this in a couple days you are free to tweak it to your own liking.
  4. Why did I use AI? Again because no one really made it and I find these things enjoyable in game, I enjoy explosions, and I wanted to basically do my own version.

TLDR

I made a mod for myself that made ships go big boom. Decided someone else might also like big booms. TheRealGibbon at Nexus Mods is the goat and my inspiration for this. https://www.nexusmods.com/profile/TheRealGibbon
Release coming in a few days

Miners doing nothing

Is it normal that if I order my miners to mine for my station, they all are just gonna stay and do nothing?
I have few miners and if I give them role Mine for commander(The station), then they will rarely move and never mine or bring resources to my station.
My station needs Helium and Ore, and the station already ran out of Helium, but my gas miners and ore miners are doing absolutely nothing.
If I give my miners role like sector mining, then they will do it without problems. They all are in one sector which has a lot of Helium and Ore.
I always need to give them sector mining role and then order to bring resources to my station.
Are there any solutions?

Edit: Okay, so, thanks for the tips. The problem was that I forgot to make station buy the Helium and Ore, I fixed that problem and now miners are doing great. Again, thanks.
