X4 VR 0.5.2 is out: LINUX SUPPORT

Thanks to all Contributors and testers who made this possible.

New since 0.4.0:

- Other head trackers such as TrackIR and Tobii can no longer take over from the headset.

- CPU-heavy saves run at a higher frame rate.

- The native Linux version of X4 is supported (experimental, you build it from the repository).

- Turning quickly with the mouse on foot no longer causes black flashes in one eye.

- Some players had head tracking but no picture in the headset. The launcher now turns off the Vulkan layers of RTSS and OBS game capture for X4, and it warns you when it runs as administrator, which also caused it.

- New launcher options, all off by default: a fix for the jittering right eye on Steam Link and Steam Frame, external views (F2/F3) on a screen that fills your view, and the pilot camera moved 0.75 m back in the Kukri, where X4 places it too far forward for VR.

If you play over Steam Link, I'd like to hear how the right-eye fix looks. Nobody has tested it there on Windows yet.

Requirements: Windows 10 or 11, X4 9.00 or 8.00, and SteamVR or your headset's OpenXR runtime.

Made a trailer for our 3D mage survivors-like — what would you cut or change?

Hey Survivors!

We are Dajo Forge. We just finished a trailer for Arcane Arena Survivors, our upcoming horde-survivor, and before we push it anywhere I'd rather have this sub tear it apart first. You all watch more of these than anyone.

Quick context so the questions make sense: it's a 3D arena survivors-like where you pick a mage, combine spells over a run, and fight escalating bosses, solo or in online co-op. PC, 2026.

What I'd genuinely like to know:

Do the first 5 seconds tell you what the game is? That's the part I'm least sure about.

Does the build variety come across, or does it just look like generic screen-filling VFX? This is the thing I worry about most — spell combining is the core of the game and I'm not convinced the trailer shows it.

Is it too long / too short? Where did your attention drop?

Does anything read as "just another Vampire Survivors clone" to you? If so, at what moment? I'd rather know exactly where we lose you.

Would you have wishlisted after watching? Brutal honesty appreciated — a "no, because X" is worth more to me than a nice comment.

Not asking for wishlists here, just the feedback. We can still re-cut this before it goes to trailer channels, so anything you flag has a decent chance of actually changing the video.

Happy to answer anything about how it plays.
