What does everyone use for high value treats?

I have been using Ziwi Peak air dried raw in lamb, but my dog is definitely getting bored of it. I love Ziwi Peak’s quality and will be buying it in beef buuuuut I’m looking for different options. I’m hesitant to try a new brand 😅 I bought Zeal air dried beef and it was actually foul. I opened the bag and GAGGED it was just disgusting.

I’m looking at Open Farm air dried raw- has anyone bought this? She only gets these treats during training, hikes, and other excursions where I need her to be on point and obedient. She does like hot dogs and cheese of course lol but tends to blow me off more- the air dried raw really holds her attention. She is allergic to chicken.

Picture of bespeckled baby cuz she’s cute

Picked up this kiln for free

I picked up this kiln from a friend who didn’t have a need for it anymore. To me the inside looks great but I’m a novice when it comes to pottery. The only thing I know about this kiln is that it is a manual and the outside really needs cleaned lol. I figure someone in this sub has used this kiln before so I was hoping someone could tell me a little bit about it! I am going to read up about it as well but sometimes first hand experience is the best tool. Thanks in advance!

Observing the happenings of a busy park and practicing neutrality

A couple months ago we would not have even able to make the walk to this park. Our trainer has been a god send. Pepper is regaining her confidence after being attacked by an off leash dog and it is so heart warming to see. Her world was so small a couple months ago- the strides we have made in her training is opening up her world more and more everyday. The first time I was able to walk her on a busy street with a loose leash brought me to tears! She no longer drags me on the leash, walks in a perfect heel when I need her to, she doesn’t herd cars, bikes, bark/lunge at strangers. She is still unsure about strollers and dog walkers are a work in progress. She has always been very reactive, even as a young puppy. I worked with it as much as I could with what I knew about dog training but it just wasn’t enough. Next year I really hope to be able to take her on all of the hikes, all of the vacations, all of the camping trips, all of the dog friendly stores, ect. Her threshold is growing and she is learning to keep engaging with me even when she is stressed out. I think her being attacked broke her confidence in me to keep her safe and that is being healed too. I never thought she would look to me for guidance on what to do, but she does now. It’s so wonderful. 🥹

*Please note that the mini educator is absolutely NOT used in any instance for reactivity. Training for reactivity is counter conditioning with high value rewards. Sometimes it is distracting her with something much more interesting than the dog she wants to react to.

Ruffland Cooling Vest @ Marshalls

As the title describes.
I saw some people looking for cooling vests for their dogs. I was just as Marshalls and they had Ruffland cooling vests there! They are way cheaper than what they usually are online. These were 25$ in store when they are usually 50-60 bucks online.
Just thought I’d share :)

Waiting for a training consultation

She is being really calm just watching traffic and people walk around. No barking or anything. I am nervous for the consultation as she can be quite fearful but that is what the consultation is for… fingers crossed it is a good match and we can address some of the problems she is having trouble overcoming. The goal is a confident dog who is able to do all of things I know she would be happy doing! Biking, hiking, camping, fishing, and exploring new places without reactivity holding her back. 🤞

If your dog had a sign on them, what would it say? I think Pepper’s sign would say “I know I look so cute right now, but do not touch me or else”

Pep has been pretty itchy and miserable lately. I bought some grooming stuff and showered this girl DOOWWWNNN with some sensitive skin shampoo and then went in with a shampoo that helps break up the undercoat. I got a bunch of hair off in the tub, my upstairs bathroom is covered in hair, and then we went downstairs and I proceeded to brush two Easter baskets worth of fur off of her. She was *not* a nice baby during this until I brought out the cheese and let her eat cheese off of my leg while I brushed her. She’s been looking pretty chunky lately and I have been considering cutting her food intake because of it. Well, it turns out she just had an extra 45lbs of hair on her body cuz now she looks all lean again 😂
