I think my psychiatrist is ghosting me.

I’ve been having a super hard time with my boss and it boiled over into a conversation on 4/8. This conversation upset me so badly that I called my psych crying asking if she does work notes. I left a voicemail, texted the number she texts from, and emailed. She didn’t respond, but I moved on and work seemed to be ok.

Flash forward- no, I got fired on the 16th. I call her on 4/20, email and text that I need to move up my appointment because I’m not going to have insurance and can she put in a med refill so I don’t run out. I’m on Desvenlafaxine and it’s very expensive without insurance, and again, I have no income.

On 4/25, I send another email to follow up since I haven’t had a response. Her accountant calls me because they filed my insurance wrong and I reiterated I was disappointed I hadn’t heard from her.

My psych finally emailed me that she heard that I felt unheard by her and asked if I wanted to move up the appointment or if I’d like to have my records and have her put in a month of meds. I responded that I’d like to move up the appointment. There was no apology, just the following-

“Yes, you are currently a patient.  I did get a text asking for an off-work note- but don't recall a voice message.  I'm sorry if a communication was missed. We have an appointment scheduled for 5/18 at 10:30, which indicates things were going well at the time it was scheduled.

If this is no longer the case, we can move the appointment closer.  Often when folks lose their job, insurance stops at the end of the month.  Do you want to get in before that happens?  If so please give me some blocks of times and days you are available so I can find a match.”

I followed BACK up with her today because she hasn’t responded.

My husband is getting me on his health insurance, so this is all a moot point, but I did go ahead and request a refill of Lamictal and she DECLINED it. This was in my follow up today.

I’ve been on Desvenlafaxine and Lamictal for 8 years, the combo has worked, and my appointments have been pretty steady.

What should I do?
