Bummer Consult

I had a consult with a breast surgeon today at a major university hospital in Colorado. I was told that the only way they would even consider entertaining a nipple sparing procedure is if I underwent a reduction first (I am a 36 DD) and she wasn’t even interested in discussing a nerve sparing procedure beyond telling me there are poor outcomes associated with it and that it’s unlikely I would get any meaningful feeling back. she told she wants to do a center elipses incision which I feel would severely disfigure my breasts. Im pursuing a second opinion but ffs that appointment was disappointing.

Small Mass Stress Rant

33 y/o, significant family history of prostate cancer and pretty sure the gene was passed through my fathers side: I found out I have the BRCA2 mutation in late July. I got the soonest MRI and mammogram appointments available after my PCP wrote the referrals. the mammogram was on Thursday. No findings, just very dense breasts. Friday (today) was the MRI. They found a small, pea sized mass near my left nipple. I had already decided to do the double mastectomy and reconstruction and was trying to get the initial imaging out of the way to get it set up. I’m so over this. I want these breasts off of me and these fallopian tubes/ovaries out of me yesterday. I just want this to be over.

Spinner’s Testicle

Season 9 episode 22. Spinner has the mini museum in his apartment of important memories. TELL ME that that is not his cancerous testicle in the plastic container?!

Anxious to get it over with

I'm 33. I might be in the minority here but I got my BRCA2 diagnosis about a month ago and I’m so anxious to get my mastectomy and reconstruction over with. If I could get the saplingectomy at the same time I would. I’ve had so many health issues over the last 10 years that I just want to get this particular piece of health anxiety out of the way. I’m waiting on the specialist to call me to set up my appointment.
