Ellie /Marco hookup

Was anyone else totally icked out by the Ellie/Marco hookup in season seven? I get that it stemmed from their co-dependency but seemed totally out of left field! And don’t get me started about Ellie, a freshman, being named as editor in chief of The Core! Especially after her public humiliation stunt of Caitlin . Totally farfetched and definitely seemed like favoritism to me!

Thoughts?!

What did you think of Rick, particularly in the early episodes of Season 4 as he was being ostracized?

Did anyone feel bad for the guy? I feel like a lot of the fandom just really hates him, and this feeling is valid. But the older I get, the more I find myself feeling really sorry for Rick when he’s being bullied.

I wish the adults in this situation had protected Rick, as well as his fellow classmates, by denying Rick’s re-enrollment to Degrassi for some time. I think his re-acceptance into the school was a disaster waiting to happen.

I believe in accountability and the power of therapy, and I appreciate Rick trying to apologize to people like Paige and others who were directly affected by his harmful behavior. I admire him for attempting to get professional help. These are big steps in taking responsibility for one’s actions, and there are adults out here in the world who don’t even do this. But sometimes, other people aren’t ready to see or speak to you. Sometimes, the people you’ve hurt aren’t ready to forgive. So I wish Rick had been encouraged to keep a distance, and protected more by his parents at such a raw and vulnerable time.

But what do you guys think?

Cast Members That Have Dated IRL

Who are all of the next gen cast actors that have dated in real life? We know the big ones like Ryan Cooley (J.T. Yorke) and Sarah Barrable-Tishauer (Liberty Van Zandt), and Drake (Jimmy Brooks) and Andrea Lewis (Hazel Aden) all dated while they were on Degrassi. Who are some rumoured cast members relationships?

Season 13 is looking like they jumped the shark for me

First time watcher of TNG

I know there's a lot of opinions and people think the shark was jumped way before this, but I've been surprisingly happy with the later classes. But I'm only 5 episodes into season 13 and the writing seems suddenly very bad.

Tell me it gets better because I still got almost 70 episodes to go! lol

Season 12 awkward credit sequence change mid-season

so i just watched the episode where KC and his mom move to British Columbia to escape his drunk and violent dad. Then the very next episode where KC and Conner’s actor are credited together in the opening sequence, KC is edited out. Its weird because im use to seeing them both turn away from Ms. Oh toward Bianca and now its just Conner turning away to look at Bianca.

I know Cam gets removed after his suicide. But im wondering how many other subtle changes ive missed to the intros as characters have cone and gone

What would you include in a "Best of Manny" marathon?

I watch Degrassi on Samsung TV. It's my comfort show. It automatically comes on when I turn on the TV before I switch to prime video, Netflix, Hulu, whatever. If I don't have a particular show in mind I want to watch I usually just keep it on the Degrassi channel.

Lately they'd been running the same episodes from the post shark in the water/ Vegas night dance era. So much over and over again that I was sick of it. I was surprised to turn it on yesterday and see those bridge episodes between the last season of Degrassi and the first season of new class (the little summer mystery thing circling around Maya, zig, tristian, Frankie, Zoey, and grace) and figured they'd moved on. I know it's controversial but I LOVE the pre-next class era.

I turned it on again this evening to see Maya/tristian/cam going through freshman year shenanigans. Episode ends, I'm not looking and hear old school Degrassi music (well, Degrassi TNG) and go 'huh?'. Color me surprised again to see Paige, Spinner, and Manny post-soccer game and Manny failing to get Sully's attention. I know that means one thing and one thing only: Manny is about to strut along the hallway in that iconic blue thong (side note: did anyone else find this kind of creepy? her being a minor and that extreme closeup on her butt and thong?).

Then it's the Christmas episode with the whole Craig dilemma between Ashley and Manny and the Joey dilemma between Caitlin and Sydney mirroring that. Not a Manny-specific episode but there's no doubt that the GLARE she gives Craig that causes him to break his guitar string is no doubt Iconic Manuela.

I figure at this point, given the time jump that they aren't starting to air a new era, but rather giving us a little "Best of Manny" mini-marathon. This is confirmed by the next episode where we see the gymnastics team in action. Which, we all know means we're getting the >!Manny preggers/"A-word" episode!<. Real ones (AKA millennials, well, US-ian ones that is) remember anxiously downloading this controversial "banned episode" on Limewire.

I flip to the guide and see the next one they're showing is "And you can sell this for a million DOLLARS because I am going to become FAMOUS", followed by more pre-next class era episodes.

So, my question to you all is:

If you were in charge of a full-fledged "Best of Manny" marathon, what other episodes would you include?

I think the one where Craig's band plays at that wedding would be a good one, if not for the line "Did you just throw a DRUMSTICK at my head?" along with all the other various quips between her and Ellie.

The one where she and Craig have their first date, and he is disillusioned by her *check notes* acting like a literal child, which she is

Maybe the one where she joins the spirit squad and we see the first tiff between her and Emma?

Jenna and Becky's friendship

Hi, I've been rewatching Degrassi on Amazon while cooking and cleaning, which means the episodes are all out of order unless I manually select the sequential order. When and why did Jenna stop hanging out with Becky?

Becky s13 /14

Did the writing in s13-s14 of Becky try to almost imply or try to almost have Becky in a lesbian relationship? I know she was close with Jack and Imogen. Did anyone get the vibe

Do any of the actors respond to autograph requests?

I'd really love to get some of the actors from back in the day, like Craig and Rick, but I don't want to bug them if they don't do autographs in the mail!

I'm rewatching TNG Season 10 and spotted this actor

Hi, everyone. I'm not sure if this has been pointed out before but I just recognized this actor during my rewatch of season 10. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee plays Juan Tong, manager of Little Miss Steaks. He also acts as Uncle Iroh in Netflix's ATLA Live Action.

Clare and religion

Did discussion / conversation/ themes of Clare and Christianity get trimmed down gradually? I know when Becky shows up you have “the new religious girl” show up.

But even when Clare was with Eli(an atheist), and then she befriended Adam, a trans male….u didnt see Clare just being up on her own just yelling out bs to them. I think last plot of any substance of Clare and religion was when Fitz returned back and he was Evangelical

Should I Bother With S9?

In the past, I've only watched up to season 8. I'm a huge fan of the show but once the OG cast started leaving or going to university, it just started to really suck. I truly didn't care about the new kids much. I will never watch up to season 14, but I'm wondering if I should go up to season 9 on my current rewatch. I'm on season 7 right now.

PS I love what they did to the Tobey character, in the sense that he sucks and the actor sucks. His character was crap throughout the whole thing. He's not even in the intro in the last couple seasons. I saw him at an audition once and he tried to nonchalantly take a photo of me because I guess he didn't like what I was wearing, but it was pretty obvious that he was taking a photo. I was going to say something but there's no point in talking to a failed actor 😅

Fitz is OUT! (Round 25; FINAL 4) Who would be the next man to get beat up in a brawl? COMMENT and LIKE below.

Anyways, combing both posts from here and r/degrassigames, Fitz was booted in a very close vote. I want to show some stats though.

Class of 11: 0 remaining (4 out).

Class of 13: 1 remaining (4 out).

Class of 14: 1 remaining (7 out).

Class of 15: 0 remaining (1 out).

Class of 16: 2 remaining (5 out).

Class of 17: 0 remaining (4 out)

Even in most fight posts, people from the second half of the show are rarely discussed. Also, Riley was in the countdown by the user linked above, hence him not being on here.

Someone will be eliminated each round, until one is standing. Then I will move onto the women. Anyways, COMMENT on who you think the worst fighter is, and also LIKE comments.

Why did Alex Steele (Tori) leave the show?

I’m sure it’s been answered here but I honestly liked her character and even though she didn’t get a big storyline during her season I thought she would’ve been a good addition to the newer cast. Also what do you think her storyline would’ve been? I imagine trying to befriend Zoe and ditch maya, sort of like Tristan.

Which graduating class was the most annoying?

Excluding Next Class era, from seasons 1 - 14, what graduating class was the most unlikable to you?

for me personally it was the class of 2013 (Season 12’s grad class). Only Fiona, Bianca and Eli were around for more than two seasons and the rest don’t really spend a significant enough amount of time to really leave a lasting impression IMO. At tbh, most of them were just plain horrible or unlikeable. Only Maya and Tristan are worse, which ironically are both younger siblings of student from this class.

Who would win in a fight between Paige Michalchuk vs Manny Santos?

My pick, (The Legendary Manny Santos.) Manny Santos is the OG female fighter of Degrassi. In Modern Love, Paige and Manny fought and Paige was scared of Manny.

which season do you think stands on it's own the best like a miniseries?

having surgery next week and i want something to binge while i recover. my roommate is gonna be taking care of me and he has only seen Next Class and he agreed to binge a season of Degrassi (maybe 2 if we have time) but i only have a week off of work to recover so we dont want to start at the beginning. We just want to binge one season like a minseries... does that make sense?

my question is, what season stands on its own the best as like a miniseries that u can pick up and just watch that season and then walk away at the end of the season without the story feeling incomplete?

also recommend Degrassi podcasts or content creators please i was gonna make a seperate post for that but if im already making this post i figured id include it here like who are the best creators on youtube or tiktok and are there any good rewatch podcasts? i listened to some of the DeGrads podcast but didnt really love the vibe tbh, both of those actors kind of give me the ick hope thats ok to say
