different type of ‘magical thinking’?

i see a lot of examples of magical thinking that are along the lines of “if i don’t do this, this bad thing will happen” or “if i see this, this bad thing will happen” but for a long time, i would think these things but kind of reversed in a sense? i would use it more as a reassurance, for example “if i see this, i don’t have cancer” i don’t do it as much anymore, but i’m wondering if anyone else has experienced similar thoughts. it’s almost always seeing something rather than doing a compulsion if that makes sense. for a specific example, one time i was really worried i had a brain tumor and i went to the beach with my boyfriend. we kept seeing sea turtles and i told myself “if i see two more sea turtles while we’re here, then i don’t have a brain tumor” lmao i know it sounds incredibly silly. but i’m curious if anyone has had a similar experience or if this is common and i’m not aware.

“About Time” plot hole?

just finished this movie and loved it! however, when tim goes back in time before his third child is born to say his final goodbye to his father, he goes back to when they’re playing ping pong. i remember that original scene from earlier in the movie and it being when he introduced his family to mary for the first time. this was before any of tim’s children were born. he specially goes back in time before his third child is born because it’s established that if he goes back after they’re born, he’ll have a completely different child. yes his third child isn’t born yet so he’s able to, but what about his two existing children? that was before they were born. i’m just wondering if anybody else was confused about this or noticed it. i saw another post where somebody was confused about kind of the same thing but they mentioned it about him and his father going back in time together to when tim was a little boy. i think that part can be explained by it was technically his dad doing the traveling and bringing tim along with him, similar to how tim did with his sister earlier in the movie.
