Looking for some advice on improving blue in my cube

Hey all, I got a few drafts under my belt with my Sleeveless cube. Overall its been a great time. It's a slower cube that still plays a lot of heavy hitters. I tried to build in some archetypes while still making it a cube you can brew to your hearts desire. I'm trying to avoid A+B combos.

Anyway one of the players in my group mentioned that he feels like blue has no real wincons, to which I didn't have a super great response. Its a great color in multi color decks but itself is sort of missing that piece. The closest thing is has is probably brain freeze + high tide. Maybe that's fine but I wanted to discuss with those of yall who have more experience than me. Any idea on some nice pieces I could add? I could use some better blink pieces.

One thing to note: I try my best to play cards from Tempest-Ravnica (all old boarder) but I'm open to any old boarder cards that fit the power level.

Thanks!

Suggestions for pivoting into non-profit, academia, etc. Looking for advice for those in those or similar industries.

I’ve been working in the corporate world for awhile now and I’m getting pretty burnt out on working for companies whose entire mission is to cut jobs and make more and more money. It makes it really hard to stay motivated.

This is something I’ve been feeling the older I get especially as I feel more and more jaded by capitalism and the state of the world. I would love to feel better about the work I do.

This is a daily open ended post but I’d love to get a conversation going.

Odd Request: Looking for a large sling that can fit a Bellroy Venture 6L inside with extra room

My main everyday bag is the Bellroy Venture 6L. I love it, but need a personal item bag for flights thats a bit roomier. As silly as it is I'm looking for a sling that can fit it along with room for snacks and other flight essentials. Ideally something with a hidden pocket for passports etc.

I've been considering the Alpaka Bravo Sling Max, Bravo Flight Satchel, K&F 12L Camera Bag, Cotopaxi Viaje 12L

Noob Kitchen Chef looking for some advice on my Shun Premier knives small chips and some potential alternatives knives.

Hi all, on again off again home cook here who's finally been sticking with it. I've had a Shun paring knife for about 5 years and was gifted the chef's knife 2 years ago, but I rarely use them because I'm afraid of damaging them. Nothing harder than onions, and even then I baby them.

This morning I used the paring knife on some hard boiled eggs (I know, probably not the best tool) and noticed a tiny chip afterward, about the width of a strand of hair, impossible to photograph. I did my best to cut around the areas with another knife but I'm a bit freaked out. From what I've read, if it did end up in food it would just pass harmlessly. Is that true?

I know people say Shun's are chippy. Am I destined to a life of fear with these? Any advice for getting a long, enjoyable life out of them would be appreciated. I've never sharpened a blade before. Would it be a bad idea to try these or am I better off starting with a cheaper blade first?

Also if anyone was suggestions for something less fragile, I'd love suggestions. Ideally 5.5-6.5", thinking a santoku, either a Tojiro or a Wusthof (very different blades, I know). I mainly cut veggies, chicken, salmon, and softer stuff. I keep a cheap Kai Pure nakiri for anything harder.

Those of you outside corporate/enterprise roles, what do you do and where?

I currently work as a senior designer at a fairly large enterprise. My main focus is design systems, but I also work on B2B and B2C products in my current role.

I’m curious what those of you at smaller companies do, and whether you’re seeing those roles shrink (more than the rest of the industry already is).

I’d love to move to something smaller, but in this new AI era I feel like I barely see non big tech roles posted. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places??

Don’t take this as an anti-AI post. Despite not loving what it’s doing to the world and our future, I’ve fully embraced it and have even taken on more of a design engineer role at t

Gravel Cyclists: looking for chill fire road routes in LA County

Getting back into riding after a year or two off. I’m originally from the East Coast, where my go-to was flowy singletrack and road riding.

Since moving out here I’ve never quite fallen in love with the riding here, partly because an old wrist issue makes MTB tough. I’ve been trying to do more gravel riding, but everything feels so rough that I end up wrecked after the intense descents. I’ve been riding brown mountain and the areas around there.

I’m around Pasadena on a steel frame running 45s. Any suggestions for smoother fire road routes that won’t crush my wrists? Thanks in advance.

Square taper alternatives for retro builds

Hi all, curious what non square taper cranksets you’re running on 80s-90s builds. White industries being the most obvious but I’m wondering if there any more affordable options out there.

Edit: I understand bb standards, what will and won’t work. I was curious what others were running is all. Thanks

Edit 2: not sure what’s with all of the downvoting going on here. I’m not here to yuck anyone’s yum.

New balance with leather inner heels?

Does anyone know if there are any shoes in the current lineup with a leather inner heel? I always seem to wear out the heels of my new balances and recently got a pair of adidas with a leather inner which has made them last so much longer than any New Balances I’ve owned (including USA made). While I don’t like the Adidas quite as much if I can’t find some more durable NBs I may need to switch.

My go tos have been the 1400 with the 995 being a close second.

[CA] Landlord cut giant hole in exterior wall and left everything covered in dust.

They had to cut a hole in the exterior wall to run some electrical. It left everything in our backyard coated in gray dust.

I’m considering just cleaning it myself, but apart of me feels like this should be their responsibility. Mainly I don’t feel like kicking up whatever is in the dust and don’t feel like waiting for rain to use my back yard. I basically live in the desert where it never rains.

Am I overthinking it and should I just clean it myself or should I be a Karen about it?

How to check building/maintenance permits?

Hi All, they're doing some massive work at my apartment complex which includes jackhammering huge holes (basically moats!) around the buildings and then today they told me they need to cut open a hole in my interior wall. I'm def a little worried about lead/asbestos for my loved ones/pets.

I looked on Pasadenas permit site and didn't see anything. Is there a way I can talk to an actual human about this? Anyone ever deal with this?

Is anyone else let down by Config this year?

I feel like this is a giant attempt to appease investors and ignore what users want.

Animation: Neat, but I still haven’t seen how this is better than After Effects. If animation is going to be a focus, show how it builds into components, maybe that exists, I just haven’t seen it. Admittedly I haven’t had a chance to try it myself.

Plugins: Like agents, I don’t see it beating a proper Claude/Figma MCP setup. Feels more like a way to sell credits.

Code layers: This is the one I’m most excited about but if it’s anything like Figma Make in its limits I’ll be let down.

On top of that the Talks…every. single. one. is about AI. I get it, it’s the big thing, like most of us I’ve worked it into my flow in multiple ways, but there’s more to talk about. Not saying ignore it, just maybe pull it back from 90% of talks to 60-70%.

Maybe I’m in the minority. Just wanted a sanity check.

You folks out there running P-Clamps on old steel MTB forks. What are you running?

I'm in the process of installing a Nitto rack on an old MTB with a burly fork, and the p-clamps that came with the rack just seem way too small. I know the Nitto p-clamps are 22mm. I picked up a set of 1" (25mm) hardware store p-clamps and they're just barely too big. Also, not a deal breaker but the hardware store ones feel super flimsy which is a bummer.

Curious what others are running in this situation. Sadly the fork only has fender eyelets, but if needed I could always run some super long legs to them, but thats last resort.

Looking for fork suggestions

Hey everyone. I’m currently working on a new rack set up for my bike and debating if I want to try and go with a new fork as my current one only has fender eyelets. I’ll likely just go the p clamp route but I wanted to see what if any forks would work for my build.

The bike is a bianchi project 5 an old 700c mtb.
Fork needs to:
Fit 700x45mm
Have canti mounts
45mm rake (open to some +/-)
1” steerer
Mid mount eyelets

I haven’t been able to find anything but I figured I’d check with the internet. Thanks in advancem.

Wide canti mount rack suggestions

Hi all I’m looking to put a rack on my bike and would love something that’s canti mounted like the nitto m12. I want to be able to throw a semi rigid tote on the front but want to go full basket on this particular bike. Any suggestions and/or what are you running? Thanks in advance for the help!

Have you ever given players a starting card on the battlefield in your cube? Tell me about your unique turn 0 rules/cards.

I’m currently working on a new cube where players randomly choose a card from a pool of 8 before the draft. That card starts on the battlefield and is meant to loosely guide their draft and reward players if they build around it, but not punishing them if they ignore it.

Tell me about any turn 0 cards or rules you’ve tried in your cubes. What worked/what didn’t and any suggestions you may have.
