Dyno results

Brought my ws6 in for headers. They did a pre install dyno. The car itself has an slp catback, slp airbox lid and bypassed the throttle body cooling. Makes 340hp. The dyno suggests that it makes around 390 at the crank. Looking forward to see the numbers after the headers and tune are done

AC questions

the car- 99 trans am with r134a

from the time i took ownership of this car a year and a half ago, the AC hasnt worked. i asked the guy i bought it from, after i already owned it for about a month, if it worked when he had it, and said it did, so take that for what its worth.

i have the gauge set, vacuum pump, dye, etc., so im able to see what the system is doing. so, i know my system had a leak because when i first diagnosed the issue, there was no pressure in the system at all. i at that time, which was last year, i vacuumed the system, and filled it, and added dye. it obviously leaked out again, and this year, i decided i was going to find the issue. i believed it to be the seals based on what little evidence i can find. there was not a smoking gun, but i did see the smallest amount of fluorescent around the different connections, so i decided to replace all of them that i can get to, which is all of them except for what is on the compressor itself. its an insane spot to be in, i cant even see behind the compressor where the lines connect. i did forget about the orifice tube.

i pulled vacuum today, and filled it today. the AC is working as intended, but i had some questions about PSI readings so i can think things over and come up with a plan if needed.

last night, preemptively, i pulled vacuum to make sure there wasnt any leaks. it stayed at -30, and the high side stayed negative as well, and did not seem to lose vacuum over an hour that i held the vacuum. to me, it would seem that if thats the case there SHOULDNT be any leaks.

after filling the system, when it was roughly 75 degrees out, the low side was about 35 psi, with the high side being at about 150psi, so its within standard ranges when its filled, and held steady. i dont recall exactly what the nuimbers were, but i made sure it was within specifications of any online chart i found.

anyhow, after shutting the car off, the system equalized and settled around 95psi on both sides. this brings me to what i would say my main question is. as far as i know, the system should equalize to ambient temp, and both sides should be equal, with the car off. but after many hours of sitting (were talking about 9 hours), i connected the gauge set to check it, and the low side showed like 70 psi, where the high side was still around 95. obviously, after turning off the car, they should be the same number, but after the car sits a considerable amount of time, is it normal that one side will be different than the other? the low side seemed to be holding the ambient temp, where the high side is still where it was after i filled it, and let the car run.

and after just connecting it all a little bit ago when i saw the difference in the numbers, i started the car to see what it read with the system running. at about 70-74 degrees, the low side is about 32 psi, and the high side about 150ish. the ambient temp, if i go off of charts, the low side is a little low, but i didnt let the system run too long when checking it (maybe 3 minutes), but to me, i get a feeling that its still leaking.

ill have to see what happens in the coming days, but am i overthinking it with the PSI differential after 9 hours? to me, its odd that the high side has held the same amount for many hours, while the low side is matching ambient temp.

Need help paying for recent surgery, and upcoming surgery-hip replacement

Good afternoon everyone,

https://gofund.me/05226490c

i have been dealing with hip issues for quite a few years now, and finally decided to do something about it. extreme arthritis in both, which limited mobility, quite a bit. walking too much would eventually turn to tiny steps because it would tighten up. also caused back pain doing simple things like mowing the lawn. putting socks on normally, just wasnt an option. couldnt lift my leg high enough, nor bend far enough to do it. im not going to bore you too much, as its all in my GFM campaign already.

got the first hip replaced early May, and the other will probably be September-ish. as you can imagine, now its time to "pay the piper". the hospital/doctors now want to be paid, as one would expect. its a very excessive amount, which is the only reason why i am asking for help. generally im stubborn and dont ask, but i cant afford what they are needing to get.

the good news, other than my one hip is good, is that my insurance deductible/out of pocket maximum are now met, so the upcoming surgery will get covered at 100%. however, because i owe now for the first, billing is going to want to make sure they are paid for the other, and i dont want to get stuck in a situation where i have to put off the second one, because they want to be paid, when i simply just cant do it right now in full. if i put the second one off, it means that ill have another giant bill just to do the other, versus doing it this year, i only have high cost for one.

the go fund me's ai sets the amount to half for whatever reason it stated, so you will see the goal is 3500. ultimately, the bill in full is just over 6100.00. there is one picture on it that is from an itemized statement that i used to show the full amount. that amount was just over 6500. that was before i used what i had left in my HSA, so the 6137.78 is the accurate amount. i have also edited out my personal info, obviously, so if there is missing info, i cropped it out.

any help that you all can provide, is greatly appreciated. i generally dont like asking for help, but i cant tell you how much getting hip replacements has given me some life back.

hip replacement update

i dont think i updated anyone on this. i mentioned many months ago that im going to have both hips replaced, and i suspect a fair amount of people in this sub might, in the future.

well, im here to give you my own update so that maybe it will ease your mind. i will say that i am not playing yet, but have a positive outlook on returning.

on may 7th, i had my left one replaced (the other will be septemberish). i had second thoughts about going in to do it, with "well, it doesnt feel so bad right now, i think im good" constantly replaying in my head, but days of hip pain reminded me that it isnt "good".

long story short, the issue i was having was extremely limited mobility due to arthritis/calcium buildup. mobility in one leg was restricted down to around 25% of normal movement. so, imagine picking your knee up, in the standing position, to be level with the floor. i could only pick it up enough to still have my toes touching the floor. it was like that in every direction. so bad, i couldnt even put my socks on. you can imagine how it might be hard to lace up your skates, or even worse, doing toe ties on your pads. literally have to stretch and force pain to do it.

now that ive had it, i can pick it up to be level with the floor, i can lift it outward, and best yet, i can put on my socks. the only pain i have is the muscles in the front of my leg, where the incision is. the muscle is still kinda tight, and those muscles are experiencing movement that they havent experienced in quite a while. the only bad part right now is a strip of numb skin that goes from my knee to my waist. they say it could be permanent like that, but its not a huge deal.

waking up for surgery, immense pain, but they gave me pain killers, and was soon feeling much better. not too long after waking up, they want you walking. its a requirement to be able to show that you can walk with a walker, before they let you leave. it was a wierd feeling. one of those situations where you just had major surgery, and think that you should feel pain, but you dont. mainly because of the anesthesia, but walking and moving my leg was surprisingly easy and little pain. the next couple days are another story. in fact, days 4-6 are the worst. the first few days, it seems you still have anesthesia in you so pain is pretty mild. 4-6 i had trouble sleeping because it was throbbing so much, and causing activity in my nerves that was running the length of the leg. days 7+ it just gets easier and better. im at just over 30 days complete, and i feel like i could play, but smart me tells myself "nah, not yet". i plan on sitting out until october 2027, to be safe. now its just a matter of rehabing myself. my doctor didnt prescribe any actual physical therapy, but with how well it feels, PT seems pointless, when i can just do stuff at home for it.

anywhos....if youre needing it done, its not really that scary.

picture is the cane i made from one of my old player sticks that was broken. handle is black maple, and i cut up a puck to put on the bottom, not seen in the photo.
