[RT!] Yaotome x2, a worthy comfy SOL manga successor to the author's previous work (Seitokai Yakuindomo), following the characters from elementary school onwards in real time (each monthly release is a month's time in their world!)

Mangadex link: https://mangadex.org/title/3c30229a-e6a3-44fa-a1ac-61a208c2ebad/yaotome-x-2

I think Yaotome x2 doesn't get enough love in the manga world, outside 4chan where it gets translated and discussed briefly by a dozen of 4chan users.

Short intro: Kai Yaotome meets Haruru Yaotome (hence Yaotome x2) and happen to be neighbours and go to the same elementary school. From there, the story just tells their daily SOL from that to high school (for now) with each chapter being one month apart.

To me, it's 'gimmick' of a monthly chapter release matching each month in the manga time is so good. In a sense, that we've had one half of elementary school, 3 years of middle school and now slowly approaching the end of the first year of high school.

The sense of time has a wonderful feeling of growing up with the characters and sometimes I got emotional seeing them graduate, with some characters moving to different schools as well. It's so good in making me form a genuine attraction to the characters.

Okay, if you know Seitokai, nothing quite has changed. This is still predominantly a dirty jokes manga - even with kids saying the most outrageous things but it's still so fun and easy to read. I mean, like Seitokai, the jokes hit and miss a lot but the world feels so easy to just read through - it's weirdly very comfy and fun.

Ujie Tozen art has also improved a significant amount and it's nice that there a few pages of non 4 koma stuff which I really enjoy too. The cast of characters are a lot of fun.

This is not a romantic comedy - just like Seitokai, we have the flag crusher Kai Yaotome. But the comedy and jokes can be so unexpected at times lol.

Give it a shot, it's a light but fun read.

During the NPB All-Star game, Fighters' star player Chusei Mannami gave this self-introduction that was shown on the stadium screen, "26 years old, single. I recently got my heartbroken lol." He ended up racking 4 hits, 2 RBI and the MVP of the All-Star game.

Who do you think it's our second best ever goalkeeper?

I think Shay Given legacy will not be surpassed for a long time - given his enormous time spent with us AND the amount of world class performances he gave us.

But our second best ever goalkeeper is more competitive in my opinion.

Nick Pope (2022-present) - 4 seasons, 131 starts, 46 clean sheets

- His peak has probably ended for us but was a true rock for the first 2.5-3 seasons with us and part of one of the greatest Newcastle teams in PL era bringing us into the Champions League and part of one of the best defences we ever had. Has made amazing saves and a great sweeper keeper until recently.

Martin Dubravka (2018-2025) - 8 seasons, 177 starts, 53 clean sheets

- An insane bargain from nowhere. Genuinely was our best player at times during the Bruce era, he was hampered by being part of one of our worst teams in the PL era but made many great performances and was the difference between relegation at times. Ended his time here by being part of a great League Cup winning run.

Tim Krul (2006-2016) - 8 seasons, 167 starts, 47 clean sheets

- Many amazing performances that led to a strong 5th place under him, his Spurs performance will never be forgotten. Made the transition from Shay Given near seamless with him being a very solid goalkeeper.

Steve Harper (1998-2013) - 12 seasons, 162 starts, 45 clean sheets

- The eternal Shay Given understudy, would have played a lot more if he wasn't there but his quality was never doubted. Has 45 starts in our record breaking Championship run in 2009-2010.

Pavel Srnicek (1993-1998, 2007) -6 seasons, 107 starts, 34 clean sheets

- Pavel is a Geordie! A bit before my time but part of Newcastle most successful period before the takeover and well loved by the fanbase.

In 1982, the two time Ballon d'Or winner, 31 year old Kevin Keegan scored the winning goal against QPR on his debut return to his boyhood club and then second division Newcastle United to absolute scenes.

Was listening to Craig Foster perspective on how this World Cup will be a launchpad of experience for the World Cup in 4 years time, with this young squad's ages in 4 years time.

In 2030, our starting lineup could be:

Beach: 26 years old

Circati: 26 years old

Italiano: 28 years old

Herrington: 22 years old

Bos: 27 years old

Souttar: 31 years old

Metcalfe: 30 years old

O'Neill: 32 years old

Okon: 25 years old

Toure: 26 years old

Irankunda: 24 years old

Volpato: 26 years old

And an injured McGree which we really missed would only turn 31!

Say what you want about Popovich, but at least he trusted his youth players this WC. Invaluable experience.

Slightly off-topic, but I wished A-League can push on with some promotion of the upcoming season, similar to what the J-League did like this advertisment they had in the Japan subways.

Can we just stop criticizing the penalty shootout takers?

As we see from the interviews, the players selected was pre-determined and clearly in training, they were shown to be good at penalties to be picked in the real situation.

A centreback can take penalties better than a striker/midfielder. Two of Egypt scorers from the shootout were defenders. We've had defenders take penalties in shootouts in the past.

At the end, it was a penalty shootout and shit happens.

Instead, we should be critical about how this team never got going offensively, never had their best attacking players on at the same time, etc etc.

2 months ago, David Hopkinson said he expected "a strong end to the season" from Eddie Howe. In that 7 game span, we got 7 points from a possible 21 points and dropped a further 5 points from winning positions - finishing the same position we were in 2 months ago.
