Freelancers, how much do you think I should be asking for my next contract? (Long post ahead)
Hi everyone! I’m a Senior Graphic Designer based in the PH, currently working remotely with a US-based creative studio that focuses on branding and websites for interior designers. I’ve been with this client for 3 years now. I started at $1,000/month, then moved to $1,100/month for my current 2-year contract.
My contract is coming up for renewal and renegotiation, so I’d really appreciate some perspective on how to price my current level of work. Honestly, medyo nahihirapan ako mag-price myself because my role has grown quite a lot since my last contract.
When I started, my work was mainly focused on graphic design and branding. Over the past two years, though, my responsibilities have expanded into website design and builds, website copy, branding, case studies, SEO, accessibility, content, AI workflows, client communication, and internal processes.
A big part of my work now involves designing and building Squarespace websites for U.S.-based interior designers. I’ve worked with 30+ clients, contributed to 40+ case studies, completed around 10 full website builds, and worked on 6 rebrands. I also led the rebrand and website redesign for the studio itself, which launched in 2025.
Beyond design, I’ve also taken on SEO and ADA-conscious design, content and presentations, brand strategy, AI workflows and prompt development, research and design recommendations, process organization, and various client-related tasks. My role has definitely become much broader than what was originally outlined in my contract.
My current title is Senior Graphic Designer, but I’m also considering whether Senior Brand & Web Designer better reflects what I actually do now.
I’m based in the PH and work 40 hours/week as a remote contractor for a U.S.-based company.
For those with experience in similar roles, what monthly USD rate would you consider fair for this scope of work and level of experience?
I’m not trying to maximize the number just for the sake of it. I’d like to understand what would be a realistic and defensible range based on the responsibilities, experience, and value involved.
I’d especially appreciate perspectives from you guys who work with U.S. companies, as well as designers handling a similar mix of branding, web, and strategy.
