Summer | Escaping the heat | Viltrox 14mm F4 Air | #ViltroxPhotography

With a heat waves hitting most of the Europe, mountains have been my go to place to escape the heat. Viltrox 14mm has been a great for capturing the views when I don't want to bring the heavy telephoto lens with me. Hope you enjoy these shots.

Summer | Balkan mountain vibes | Viltrox 85mm F2 Evo | #ViltroxPhotography

Took the Viltrox 85mm f2 Evo with Sony a7RV on a hike to Montenegro highest mountain. Did not disappoint.

Eclipse photobombing | Sony a7RV & Tamron 50-400mm

Probably used up all my photography luck for next few months with this one. Eclipse was spectacular already but catching the small plane in the middle of it was not on my shot list 🤯. Supper happy to have the Sony a7rV and to be able to crop in.

City glow | Sony A7RV & Viltrox 27mm f1.2

After what felt like a whole summer, the skies finally cleared during recent night with no moon. Plan was to escape the city glow and shoot a Milkyway panorama in which I partially succeeded as light pollution from the city still took over the centre of the frame.

Gear

Shot on Sony a7RV & Viltrox 27mm f1.2* with help of Syrp Genie Mini II Pan&Tilt kit.

SW used for processing

PTGui, Siril, PS and LR.

Exposure info

40 shot panorama, 10s, f1.2 and ISO 1600 for each frame.

*Yes, I know that Viltrox 27mm f1.2 is an APS-C lens, I'm in the process of selling it and getting an FF equivalent. Recommendations are welcomed.

Stone towers | Sony a7RV & Viltrox 85mm f2 Evo

Taking advantage of high resolution camera and sharp lens. The Viltrox 85mm f2 Evo was great even on aps-c but now that I'm using it on Sony a7RV, it really shines. Who would have thought that cropping in so much would still look good?

Summer night | Sony 11mm f1.8

Not really a great last few weeks for astrophotography as I only got half an hour of clear skies but I still managed to capture following scene. Shot on Sony a7RV and Sony 11mm f1.8. What do you think?

I know, an aps-c lens on ff, but I'm in the process of upgrading and the wide angle is the last on the list (hasn't been sold yet).

Exposure info
Skies - 11x 30s, f2 and ISO 800
Foreground - 120s, f2 and ISO 400

Galactic core | Viltrox 85mm F2.0 Evo | #ViltroxPhotography

Got my hands on Sony a7RV few weeks back but the weather has been pretty poor for astrophotography. Only had about half an hour of clear skies for a quick test with Viltrox 85mm f2 Evo and MSM Nomad star tracker. The result looks pretty promising. Can't wait to plan and shoot a proper scene.

Exposure info:
5 frames at 30s, f2 and ISO 800. Processed in Starry Sky Stacker, Siril, PS and LR.

Electric | Viltrox 85mm F2.0 Evo | #ViltroxPhotography

Not many clear nights for astrophotography lately but the thunderstorms and the lightning made up for it. Shot with Viltrox 85mm f2 Evo on Sony a7rV. 1/3s at f16 and ISO 50.

Entering FF in style with a7RV after years on APS-C

I've been thinking about getting an FF body for a while now and seeing a few good deals on used a7RVs around me I finally caved in, sold most of my aps-c kit and got this beauty.

Sorry for no box as the original owner threw that away. Punishable crime, I know... :D

Viltrox 27mm f1.2 Pro vs Viltrox 28mm f4.5 Chip

I posted astro review of the 28mm f4.5 Chip a few days back. During the night of the test I shot the same scene with 27mm f1.2 Pro as well. Looking back, I could have done more for this comparison to be accurate/fair but since I have the shots, why not to share them. Feel free to comment your toughts below.

1st image - 27mm f1.2

  • stars - 60s, f1.2, ISO 400
  • foreground - 60s, f1.2, ISO 400

2nd image - 28mm f4.5

  • stars - 60s, f4.5, ISO 1600
  • foreground - 90s, f4.5, ISO 1600

Shot on Sony a6700, tracked on MSM Nomad, edited in PS and LR.

Chipping the night skies | Viltrox AF 28mm f4.5 Chip | #ViltroxPhotography

So, 9 of you jokers upvoted my comment about astro test of Viltrox AF 28mm f4.5 lens and I was crazy enough to listen. Here are the results. I'm gonna enter this post to photo contest just to confuse everyone who reads the description if I make it to the selected photos.

Yes, I did use a star tracker worth double of what the lens is.
Yes, I did shoot the stars and foreground separately.
Yes, I would have gotten much better results with proper lens such as Viltrox 27mm f1.2.
Yes, shooting with an APS-C camera probably helped with corner sharpness & vignetting.
Yes, using manual focus without focus ring sucks.

Was it worth it though? I'll let you judge that.

1st image exposure info

  • Stars - f4.5, ISO 1600, 69 seconds
  • Foreground - f4.5, ISO 1600, 91 seconds

2nd image exposure info

  • Stars - f4.5, ISO 1600, 60 seconds
  • Foreground - f4.5, ISO 1600, 90 seconds

Shot with Sony a6700, tracked on MSM Nomad, stitched in PS and edited in LR.
