Is Xenonauts 2 being so similar to the original a good thing?

I really like that classic alien invasion theme and tried the first Xenonauts, but it never fully clicked. That’s probably why I was hesitant about the sequel and waited until the 1.0 release in April to give it a proper try.

I’m now in the middle of my second campaign, and it’s been a great experience. The extraterrestrial combat vibe is definitely there. The biggest difference for me is the 3D camera with rotation. Being able to properly read the battlefield and position your squad is a total game changer. It might be the missing piece that stopped me from truly enjoying it before.

I’ve seen some opinions that Xenonauts 2 feels too similar to the original, but for me it’s quite the opposite. This feels like the game I was hoping it would be.

Why does backtracking in The Long Dark still feel engaging?

Recently tried The Long Dark and it’s surprisingly addictive. I started with Wintermute and then moved on to survival on Voyageur. I’ve found myself doing a lot of backtracking, but it still feels rewarding instead of tedious. Maybe it’s just the immersion, not sure.

Anyone else had that experience?

Here’s a sneak peek at a settings window for a management sim game I’ve been working on. Are the visuals a good match for a tech theme?
