Prošle neđelje me zamalo udario motor dok sam skrećao, a on prepametno zaobilazio tri-četiri auta u krivine i to ne malom brzinom. Pošto sam uočio idiota, ukočio sam u mjesto i on se nije polomio.

Bukvalno sam stao u mjesto, a on onda kad me vidio jedva zakočio, ubacio ga u rikverc i produžio.

Beginner starting with Elastic Security (SIEM) — do I really need to learn ALL of Elastic first?

I recently passed "Security+" (not really) test that was given to me by my potential employee, so it does not come with the certificate, it is not official CompTIA, but it was enough for them to see that I was learning, trying, and I did good on their own "Security+" test.

So now, that potential employer told me their company partnered with Elastic. They told me that it is basically "SIEM solution".

It is actually very confusing for me as a beginner, so I want to focus on whats important and and they know I'm there for learning cybersecurity and becoming the analyst, or I can say SOC analyst so I kinda have a problem that I hope you guys can help me with.

The problem: Elastic feels huge and I keep getting lost. It looks like I'd have to learn Elasticsearch internals, cluster/DevOps stuff, observability, etc. just to reach the security aka SIEM part. Is that actually true, or can I focus mostly on the Security app?

For those of you who use Elastic Security day to day:

- Where did you start?

- What's the real minimum (ECS/data model, KQL, detection rules)?

- Is a free cloud trial or a local lab better for practice?

- Any beginner-friendly resources or labs you'd recommend?

I was thinking about creating my own home lab, and adding some of my PCs or virtual machines as endpoints and installing agent on them so I can actually try it out as in real world.

In the meantime I saw they have their own security training and I'm already on it. There is so much to learn and I keep getting confused easily, so I keep google-ing and going to AI for help.

But I still believe that best way to learn this is to actually install it on my home lab. I just don't know where to start, how to install it, what to look for, should I install it on Linux, should I search for cloud solution...

Any advice is much, much appreciated! This can actually change my life, so I'm really trying to sort it out.

Except Dion Udemy practice tests, which one should I look for studying and testing myself for Security+?

Hi!

I'm trying to learn and pass Security+ exam. I bought two sets of practice tests from Dion at Udemy.

What practice tests should I use except Dions?

I saw that people are mentioning Professor Messer tests.

I see on reddit that from time to time studypluss pops out, they dont look bad, I just don't know anything about them and if their tests are good for passing the real one...

Best way to approach learning Security+ ?

So, one of my potential employers told me to study Security+ and that they will test me.

So its not an official test, but Im thinking about going for one whatsoever.

Anyway, what is the best approach?

I bought tests from Jason Dion and started answering them.

Im not a beginner so I understand most of the stuff, but I still make mistakes.

I take screenshots of mistakes and go to Claude AI and keep telling it to ask me more questions about the subject where I was wrong but using official security+ material.

I was thinking, what else should I do?

Potential employer sent me some udemy course, however those videos are really boring and they make you lose your focus really fast and they are not pointing out the important stuff.

They also sent me key topics book, so I use it when I make a mistake.

I think these tests are the best thing for me when it comes to learning, because when I was learning Network+ I kept studying from the book for months and I was very detailed learner. But if I didnt take those tests I would definitely fail for the first time because they really make you understand how are questions being asked.

So, Jason Dion, maybe professor Messer questions aswell, key topics, AI...what else?

Why is this not an option already? It is so hard to learn in the late evening hours with this flashlight in my eyes.

And no, I don't want to install an extension..
