Help! My items keep disappearing and I feel I'm going crazy.
I am playing DOS2 Definitive Edition for the first time, solo. I'm on Steam and I don't have any mods installed. I am on Act 1 in Fort Joy.
First it was the Purging Wand from the witch in the cave. I didn't equip it, just left it in my inventory. and continued playing. Hours later I rescued Gareth and he explained he was looking for a wand like that. I looked in my inventory and the wand wasn't there anymore.
I thought I must have sold it to someone by accident so I checked the skeleton guy at the bridge, and every single person at Amaia's refugee camp but no one had it. I even went back and checked some people from the eastern side of the map even though I was pretty sure I hadn't been there in a while. I could not find it.
I checked the crafting menu, checked backpacks and hollow items, and carefully checked each companion's inventory. I haven't changed companions since the very beginning so it couldn't be in a dismissed companion's inventory.
I was confused and annoyed but figured I have lost it somehow. Until! It happened again. This time with the Tracks of the Tyrant. Exactly the same scenario except this time I also ran around with the ALT key pressed to see if I had somehow dropped the items on the floor. Nothing came of it.
I did this whole detective maneuver and went back to old saves to try to narrow down when they disappeared. And couldn't pin point a specific location or area (apparently I move around all over the place doing bits and pieces of the different quests). I guess I need to drop hard saves more often.
I genuinely don't understand what's happening, I'm frustrated and confused. Please help.
